Risto ain't getting bigger or faster, but he can possibly learn to play a role more suited to his skill set. Given they're stuck with his contract, it's worth the investment of coaching time.
Allison and Laczynski are who they are physically, they're trying to teach Allison to be a bottom six power forward b/c he lacks the skill even for middle six as an offense first player. Below average passer. I think Laczynski is more a matter of staying healthy, he has less physical talent but a more polished skill set than Allison and can play C and RW. In both cases, the clock is ticking at 26.
I'd be shocked if they extended Walker, I expect him to play better this year, 2 years removed from an ACL matters, especially for a player who depends on his mobility. Prime TDL trade bait. Seeler is also TDL trade bait. Torts has been blunt about Staal's role, part-time player and coach on the ice.
TK is tougher, if all you're getting in trade is a late 1st, a 2nd and "B" prospect, are you better off keeping and extending him - instead of signing a FA in 3-4 years. Probably depends on him showign he's durable and will age well, and what he asks for in an extension.
Right now, the kids everyone thinks should play over veterans aren't showing they're ready for prime time. Couple weeks to change minds, but Andrae is a good example, unless he makes a big jump, I'd rather see him in LHV to start the season - he's 21, there's no rush. Zamula has to get on the ice and show he's a NHL player, if at this point he flat lines, who cares? If you ain't improvin' you're losin'.
Ersson is the toughest decision for Briere, Peterson in LHV is a no-brainer, they wish someone would claim him. Sandstrom has looked solid so far, you might want to showcase him to start the season and hope some cap strapped team with a hole at backup goalie will see him as a low cost solution. If he doesn't play well, you waive him and bring up Ersson.
