There was never a mention of ANY details. Just a vague reference to the draft picks, but nothing specific.
Yeah, it checks out that the Flyers are interested in him.Older player...big and strong...tough two-way player...Minnesota...bottom-six player

He was a self proclaimed pot head, he's actually dead now, years later after high school he decided messing with fentanoyl, and he f***ed around and found out unfortunatelyThat's not a pot head. That's a moron.
I got an email about the Yuengling Night Out deal or whatever where you get a free Koozy and a beer...for tickets starting at JUST $80! Can you imagine paying $80 (plus parking) to go watch this team? That's honestly the worst part about all of this. Like this should be a perfect time to try and lure new fans or keep old fans happy by having affordable ticket prices but it is still outrageous. I'd love to go to a ton of games with my son this year to really get him into hockey but not at these prices for this team. Why would anyone waste money or time to watch this ****

Instead we're going to stay home and watch the Ottawa Claude Girouxs.
Too bad really. Those are more useful than LaughtonIf these rumors had come to be, we might have Joseph instead of Laughton and 2 1rst and a 2nd. Boy that would be nice.

I can't see how you think that's specific. He didn't even know which it was, 25 or 29.I am so tired of this insistence that I went back and listened to this dopey podcast from June.
He specifically said that it was 25 or 29 and the future 2nd. And I want to stress this part here because it’s important. No one asked about Laughton. The topic was a Konecny trade to St Louis including #10 and Seravalli said the name to watch was Laughton because they were engaged with the Blues and other teams. Then he threw in the specifics of the offer. This wasn’t Frank throwing out the best answer he could give to a mailbag question. It was info he had that he thought was more relevant than what was actually asked.
Hopefully someone less set in their ways reads this and understands a little better.
But no one has confirmed that was the deal, just that those picks were thrown out there along with Laughton's name.I am so tired of this insistence that I went back and listened to this dopey podcast from June.

Do you really think that a cap strapped St Louis team was going to trade #29 and a 2nd (probably Toronto's) for Laughton and his $3M cap hit? He's a useful player, but he's a bottom six guy -and they're already paying Kapanen $3.2M for a similar role.
Yes, they took on Hayes' cap hit, but he plays higher up in the lineup, he didn't cost any assets, leaving the flexibility to make a second deal to dump salary and still come out ahead.
The guy I see them moving, since Krug won't waive his NTC, is Scande;lla at $3.2M. Or Kapanen.
Scandella is 33, only played 20 games last year, physical 3rd pair LHD with limited offense.
They have an extra 2nd (Toronto) and 3rd (Rangers) in 2024.
When a rumor sounds too good to be true it probably isn't true.
that 3 million cap hit is a back breaker. His cap hit and term are a huge part of his appeal. But no one has confirmed that was the deal, just that those picks were thrown out there along with Laughton's name.

The Penguins did that as well back before Crosby, Malkin, et al. Same results. They're too proud to run those deals, I guess.
The Caps did that stuff. Midweek games were half off for students or whatever, stuff like that. It brought in a bunch of people and created a ton of fans. When things clicked and they got good, they were primed to have the seats filled and people excited from the get-go. The next generation was already plugged in.
They'll probably run a BOGO deal around Black Friday which will inevitably piss off STH's. They also had at one point College Student tickets for $20. That was YEARS ago though. I think they still have something for college kids but not sure what. They're too proud to run those deals, I guess.

The remaining STHs were probably told the money from their tickets is going to a bigger, better Kate Smith statue so they want no discounts for ANYONE.They'll probably run a BOGO deal around Black Friday which will inevitably piss off STH's. I'd agree with you except that St Louis is in cap hell. You know my position on Middle vs Top/Bottom 6.
As much as I push back on the assumption that there will always be teams looking to pay the Tampa cost control bump, it is important that we acknowledge the possibility is not zero. Especially for a guy we already know the league overvalues because they received offers of a 1 for him before.
I don’t buy that Seravalli would casually forget to mention someone like a Krug or a Scandella given the scope of those contracts. A shorter term deal, sure. Frank understands the difference that makes. What your argument basically comes down to is that you don’t think it makes sense for Doug Armstrong to make that trade. With the Flyers, you try to put yourself in their shoes and explain why they may think X or Y. With other teams, it can’t just be that Armstrong loved having him at Worlds and was willing to overpay a bit in assets he didn’t love to get a deal done.
Remember the Ratcliffe trade up where they admitted they paid too much? We’re not talking about someone paying 2 1sts here. It’s a known very late 1 and a future 2nd. A known 29 + a 3rd is not materially different than what we also know was offered a few years ago.
I'd agree with you except that St Louis is in cap hell.
They have $290K to start the season and no one on LTIR.
All their big veteran contracts have NTCs except Kapanen, Vrana and Scandella.
But they'd still have only $790K had they traded for Laughton, no #29, no extra 2nd rd pick in 2024, so they'd be squeezed to shed cap.Frank went public with that offer on 6/22. The Hayes trade wasn’t until 6/27. Once the Hayes trade was made, yes. But we know the offer was out there beforehand.
where are the flyers a in terms of cap space? They have to be very much near the limit no?But they'd still have only $790K had they traded for Laughton, no #29, no extra 2nd rd pick in 2024, so they'd be squeezed to shed cap.
By getting Hayes, they can use those extra picks to shed cap, still have their (2) 2023 1sts and 2024 1st for a team that's getting top heavy with older, expensive veterans.
If I were Breire, I'd ask about Seeler for Scandella and their 2024 2nd rd picks.
Must be why we are so good. You're the only person who thinks it isn't real and the reason you think that is because you refuse to believe this management group ever makes mistakes.
