Sometimes those sheltered 3rd pairing guys with sparkling micro stats turn into Vince Dunn. But sometimes they’re Jordan Oesterle instead. I can’t believe he’s hung around this long.

Would probably be detrimental when they find out in a sweep that they don’t have the talent, and that’s not changing anytime soon.
Yeah, sure, playoff experience would not benefit the Flyers' youngsters, and, in fact, would be detrimental.

Wonder how many youngsters will even still be around when Michkov's prime is starting. When it actually matters. Possibly none of them.

What benefits the team the most at that time? That's what matters.

Reminds me a bit of when people were **** themselves over Colin Miller because of his Corsi in sheltered use, then he goes to Buffalo, they ask him to play D, and he stinks.

Kinda wild people don't think that Farabee, Foerster, York, Frost, Brink, Drysdale and Lycksell wouldn't benefit from knowing what the playoffs look like. Players we expect to form a core of this team for the next 6-7 years.

Hell, even Ristolainen!

Yep. Foerster, York, Brink.

Exactly.

For some reason people think a 5th rd pick is more valuable to the team's future than getting their players actual playoff experience.

Yeah. I mean don't get me wrong, definitely want to see them sell off everything, but I don't mind trading late round picks or middling prospects for a playoff push. I'm not talking about getting a guy who is overpaid on a long contract, but grabbing a random middle six guy or 4th liner or serviceable D-man for a late round pick? Sign me up. That's not going to be the difference between a Cup any time soon and it isn't going to be the difference between the Flyers getting a superstar in the 2024 draft as opposed to not. There's less than 20 games left, their draft position is incredibly unlikely to change that drastically regardless of whether or not they make a move for a playoff run. They're basically going to pick between 15-20 regardless of what happens barring missing the playoffs and winning the lottery or going on a deep playoff run.

While a deep playoff run is unlikely, I'd rather have that than picking 20th overall. I'd have preferred they sucked all year and were cellar dwellers, but that ship has sailed. Even if it is just to get the butterflies out of the way in what a crowd feels like on the road in a playoff series, that's a big deal.

Not sure Bjornfot can play
Like he's not good or he's hurt? A 22 year old former first rounder with NHL experience seems like the exact kind of guy they should take a chance on.

It’s fine if they do that, they clearly have a good defense coach to work with him. He’s barely been on the ice this season, so are they going to throw him into the fire? Just saw Forsling turn out a big contract after having been a waiver claim, but they’re at 48 contracts.

We could also play a bunch of youth and still maybe squeak in.

Adding more Marc Staals will not help us get into the playoffs, it will do the opposite.

Almost ensure we miss all while not taking a look at fringe guys in our own system for next year.

NHL teams can make up whatever they want. Chicago pretended Hossa was allergic to hockey to LTIR him away.
It was actually a serious issue, I remember when that came out I lold at the reasoning but there was an athletic article detailing the condition and it actually sounded pretty horrible.

Friedman always talks about it when a player has to retire because of an injury with a contract left but the Flyers had to send Hatcher & Rathje to an independent doctor(s) because teams complained to the league behind the scenes they didn’t find it to legitimate. I don’t any of these on goings were put out by the media at the time of those events but it apparently happened behind closed doors.
