I wonder if DB flips Johansen at 50% retained. Could he squeeze a 2nd out of him? Would a 3rd cut it?
I feel like they would have waited until after the deadline to waive him if they thought there was any chance he could be flipped. Only hope to get positive assets out of him is for him to play next season and get moved at the deadline. But Torts probably won't allow him to ever suit up.

This article is hilarious. The Hathaway signing was a huge win because it brought toughness the Flyers desperately lacked. I guess Laughton, Deslauriers, and Risto were insufficient.

Then he loves the Seeler signing because - wait for it - he brings toughness. The second reason is because otherwise who would play defense next year? 1. Who cares? 2. What about the other three years of the deal? 3. And best, after spending the prior 10 paragraphs slobbering over the Walker trade, the important lesson somehow never occurs to him. Why not take some cap dumps (like Ceci) to fill your defense for next season and hope one has a Walker-type season?

Between this team, its fan base, and the media covering it, it's like a 50 year long episode of Punked for the sane.

He openly called for the firing of various members of that management group last season.

From that to, taking it balls deep with articles like this.

He’s got as much credibility as us losers on here do.

Since TK, Laughton, Deslauriers, Poehling, Hathaway, Seeler, and Cates are all designated as critical to culture and off limits, are we down to Staal or a surprise Frost trade as moveable pieces?

It's amazing that the Flyers finally have a GM who's willing to take on cap dumps to acquire draft capital while also flirting with a playoff run. Or it would be if this wasn't just what Hextall did. The Flyers had 36 picks in his four drafts.

Johansen is still an NHL player even if he’s no where near the player he once was. He was fine in a 4C role for Colorado going by the numbers this year. He’s just nowhere near $4M worth.

He’s probably just not visually appealing at this point to the eye & he probably is being judged for what he’s not anymore.

So if you’re the Flyers you can absolutely use him in a 4C role next year & he shouldn’t drag the team down in reality.

But they probably won’t do it & I doubt they won’t a potential disgruntled player hanging around even if it’s in the AHL for too long.

And this rebuild will fail for the same exact reason that Hextall's did - refusing to fully commit to a rebuild and getting multiple top 5 picks.

Well, it is Di Marco, so reasonable odds not a word of that is true, but it's funny that the one position he doesn't mention is the one that is probably most likely to bite us in the ass if we don't find reinforcements.

I mean if they can pick someone up for nothing I don't think it is a bad idea to try to make a playoff run. They got rid of Walker and they should do more, but as long as they aren't picking up someone with an outrageous contract or someone who will require anything more than a late round pick I don't have an issue with it.

Really casting a blanket on the whole thing. See, they got someone, I was right!

Surprised he didn't throw goalie in there too, which others said they were looking for
They did acquire Johansen, a forward

The "future-focused" Flyers are rumored to be focusing on the future by trading for depth veterans to help this season's playoff push.
The Flyers plan is a future focused rebuild, also they should acquire a defenseman because I don’t feel like watching Adam Ginning for up to 19 games
