What Jones said was so dumb, but lets just see what happens come next Friday - I’m 100% down to call the morning show next week and ridicule the team if they do nothing or not enough. Anyone else in?
 
I don't know, I just get the feeling that they are gonna make moves towards the rebuild effort. I don't think they are just saying that just to say it...I take his comments as basically what they have already been saying, that they aren't telling the players to tank.

The easy answer would have been:

While we certainly felt that Tort’s would have this team competing hard each and every night, sitting in 3rd in the Metro is probably about as good as we could have reasonably expected. Now, that being said, we certainly haven’t lost sight of the bigger picture which is building a team that can compete for the Stanley Cup. Are we there yet? No, but we will continue to build and we certainly hope to be there soon.

Then, if asked about moving any players between now and the deadline, the easy answer would have been:

I really can’t comment on that one way or the other since that is Danny’s department. All I can say is that we are going to do everything we can to build a Cup contending team as quickly as possible.

I mean for f*** sake, it’s not rocket science!

On that we agree. I’m sure he wishes he didn’t phrase it that way.

But I’d hope you’d also agree that there’s just no reason to blow this out of proportion the way a certain agenda driven section of the fan base is doing (and does with seemingly every negative or potentially negative thing that happens to this team).

There’s also no reason a franchise president of hockey ops needed to do 2 hours on a sports talk station. But it was a former gig of his, he enjoys it and the people of philadelphia find him entertaining. I hope this doesn’t dissuade him from doing similar appearances going forward.

There’s about 75,000 different ways he could’ve phrased it better. But most of those sound like corporate BS and canned “say nothing” answers. I like Jonesy cause what you see is what you get. Still the same guy that was on the radio making you laugh for years despite getting elevated to the POHO role. This was an authentic Jonesy answer. Maybe he stepped in it a little from a PR perspective, but that’s classic Keith Jones.

Maybe if you’re a fan living outside the city who isn’t familiar with hearing him on sportstalk radio for a number of years or a fan who was used to hearing Chuckles sound like he perpetually had a stick up his ass, this would be legitimately concerning, but the majority of Flyers fans are capable of reading between the lines.

Whether they want to or not is an entirely different story. There’s a lot of fans here who want to be right about nothing having changed. They’ve put years of effort into that schtick after all…

Being positive and optimistic about the intentions of these naysayers, perhaps there is an extended chain of under-the-radar statements as well as actions dating back to last season that indicate they aren't at all rebuilding and actually do think they're just about done doing everything that needs doing?

The issue isn't this one specific statement though. Narrowing it down to just one specific thing does it a disservice. You may be looking at it as this one specific example but the vast majority of us, especially on here, aren't.

It's an ever growing pile of shit that this organization has placed at the feet of it's fanbase.

I find it to be very ironic how the same faction of the fanbase who grovel on their knees in defense of everything the FO and Torts say/do are taking something the POHO said and twisting and contorting his words to fit their agenda, when the rest of us are simply taking his words at face value (which is precisely what we are supposed to do as paying fans). Then, those same posters have the audacity to try to throw shit in other people's faces on here and act like we're the contortionists, including using insults to diminish their position on a f***ing forum. Weird, man. What's wrong with these people?

That aside, f*** you Keith Jones.

So just to be clear, the Flyers media mouthpiece says something and instead of believing what he said, we should instead "infer" what he meant.

Let's see what the actions show....

Didn't sell high on Laughton....just made him A captain a few weeks ago
Got rid of non-Torts guys....including looking at trading Frost
Added Staal, Hathaway, Poehling
Traded Gauthier for a guy playing now....when healthy

Where are the rebuilding moves under Briere?
