This is something that's hard for me to get riled up about. I doubt the interest for most teams looking at Seeler at the deadline is contingent on an extension. But if it is, they'd probably get the Flyers permission in advance to have a conversation with his reps so they'd know regardless. And I can't blame the Flyers since they don't control Seeler's ask and I don't blame Seeler for trying to maximize his likely only opportunity at a big deal.

If anything, I'm just thankful his extreme demands are sufficient to save the Flyers from themselves in resigning him.

Prices don't magically go up 5 minutes before the deadline, let alone when every possible partner already completed their trades 1-2 weeks prior. Sure, the Flyers would probably love to trade for any number of 100pt+ franchise C in their prime, but why not go all the way and say they should target McDavid if you're going to write a fantasy article. As of today the Flyers are the 10th best team and Ottawa are ranked 28th. At the deadline if the Flyers are sure of a playoff spot and the Senators are not going to get in, it might make sense to bring back G. The Flyers are weak at LW, poor at faceoffs, and have a woeful PP that is lacking...
