Locked on Flyers - Russ Cohen's takes are hit and miss, mostly miss, but at least he scouts prospects

Flyers Daily - I only listen when Meltzer is on or there is a significant interview like Briere

STG - They can all be annoying. I will check in when they have guests like Jones and Berube during the pregame/intermission

PHLY - Oh Charlie. Questionable takes with a dose of condescension. Frost needs to be a PP producer, but TK can be a piece of rebuild until age 35 even though he isn't a pp producer? Cates has more offense there?

O&B - Hit or miss. Everyone's favorite pillow boy is on this one

TYL - Meh

Flyers Talk - Usually skip. Fordyce is terrible. The girl they have on now with Jordan is much better.

I have to be really board to listen to most

I don't listen to much of them at all, I don't really share the same opinions as many of them. However, of all of the pods, I will listen to PHLY the most. While I don't like Charlie, he's easier to listen to in a long format, as opposed to tweets. Plus, he seems to have his finger on the pulse a bit better than the other beats. But, yeah I don't really agree with much of his hockey opinions.

So the Flyers will resign TK, Couts isn't going anywhere (not that it was likely before the C removes any doubt). Once that happens who are the tradeable pieces? Risto? Atkinson? There is literally nothing left to trade so the entirety of assets acquired through the rebuild will be Bonk and whatever we get for Walker. Great job guys,

Risto (offseason)
Atkinson (no one wants)
Walker (tdl)
Laughton (tdl)
Hathaway (tdl?)

To be honest I don't know too many teams that even if they are gutting their team make more than 2-3 trades at the deadline. Risto is offseason if we are lucky and the other GM is dumb. Atkinson is likely transitioning into the useful vet so they typically don't move the needle enough other than a throw-in.

Our hope is Walker, Laughton. Pipe Dream is Walker, Laughton, and Hathaway. Guys like TK don't move at the TDL, Coots is more realistic but again I don't think there are teams with the assets to be able to get Coots or TK.

In the end, my feeling is that the team we have now is the team we will have after the TDL, hell they might even add someone, I have no confidence that they are doing anything more than going through the motions of taking calls.

i mean.... truthfully, what did you expect? even if it WASN'T this current regime running things, i'd be skeptical about their direction if they wanted to move on from TK and Couts.

Trading TK and Couts would at least be a direction. After TK gets his max term, they will have locked up the entire roster except ironically the young players (York, Drysdale).

yeah I like russ because he at least has a deeper understanding of scouting/hockey and Rachel carries the conversation nicely.

Besides Bundy STG is just a little surface level to me. They never touch on why things happen, lets say a goal for example: cycling, defensive zone rotation, power play setup/entry. i watch them to tell me something or to break news but i do not watch them to break the game down

I think if Charlie was a little less journalist and a little more cool dude, he’d win more ppl over

I have no problem with TK, he is 26 years old so he is still one of the young players IMO. Couts isn't easily tradeable at the deadline due to his contract and then a team has to have a lot of assets in the return.

The value of STG to me is ASF just because he drops more nuggets of intel than anyone else in the Flyers universe. Russ and Bundy are just filler. The hockey opinions are of no value.

100%. It’s semi required listening for that only. He doesn’t miss much, zamula being waived was the only one that comes to my mind

Another pod to think about is Nasty Knuckles. They are way too "slurp, slurp" on the flyers org, and the guy with Cote is annoying, BUT they get some AMAZING interviews. I listen sometimes just for the interviews.

I’m going to withhold judgement of briere and this “regime” until after the deadline. They get a year to show me what they are planning. I will be disappointed if Laughton and Walker are here past the deadline. Until then, I’m going to stay hopeful that they move some people at the deadline and enjoy watching the younger guys continue to progress.

Jonesey on Ray and Dregs pod today (21min)

EDIT: Said in the hypothetical Walker and Seeler were traded, Flyers would want them back in the summer. Also said Danny targeted Walker on LA (not sure about that one)

I find Flyers Daily to be the best produced one of the bunch. I like the Meltzer segments, and I like the Myrtetus episodes where he just muses on the Flyers (like top question marks for the season) with some good questions to think about - he's very good at providing insight without being judgmental or opinionated. I miss that kind of journalistic approach in today's media.

PHLY and Locked On are great in the background, where they both have strong opinions and sometimes just ramble on, but it's a good listen while I'm doing other things. Like listening to friends argue in the background.

If they get both of them back there's no room for Zamula or Andrae in the top 6, and Seeler and Walker will both want hefty raises.

Sanheim-Drysdale
York-Walker
Seeler-Risto

Wish I could edit the picture to show Jones saying this.

I could see Walker as a buy-low cap-dump that Danny targeted. Danny appears to be a bit more on the analytical side (his discussions with TK using analytics to show TK from where to shoot, signing Poehling and Hathaway - both of these guys had good underlying metrics), and Walker had decent numbers prior to his injury last season.

Is there an easy way to see how much Deslauriers has tanked Hathaway's numbers this season?
