No. Kolosov is coming over in April (.927 Sv% last 8 games), they drafted Bjarnason in the 2nd rd, and Zavragin in the 3rd. Bjarnason got off to a slow start but is playing much better lately (.929 Sv% last 7 games), Zavragin is on a record setting pace in the VHL at age 18.

They'll draft at least one goaltender each draft the next couple years, but I doubt they use a top 100 pick unless someone they love falls to them.

So, Woll from the Leafs, would not be of interest?

Re Fisto and Walker, trade both. You see that is what a rebuilding team would do, trade the guy with the most value and the one with the shitty contract. You can then re-sign Seeler so that Torts doesn’t go postal on Danny and Fatso and go with this D next year:
York-Sanheim
Seeler-Drysdale
Zamula-one of Grans, Andrae or Belpedio.

Easy, peasy

Not sure where else to put this, but did anyone watch the Daigle mini-documentary on Amazon Prime? One thing that stood out about how old school the NHL was (is) was how when Daigle spent the summer in LA training instead of Canada Bobby Clarke immediately labeled him out of shape and not coming to camp having trained over the summer (he did, just in LA). Then at the start of training camp Roger Neilson pulls him aside and says, "You better be ready for camp, we're turning you into a defensive player this season". This is after he was scoring at a 0.7 ppg rate with the Flyers the previous season. Needless to say he put up 5 points in 31 games that year before being traded to TB.

Did they show the shot on the Flyers broadcast of them heaving his gear into an empty box truck? I should have realized back then what that meant about how the team operates.

So pretty much the Morgan Frost game plan.

How do you suggest they add the big pieces? Any names in mind?
The only way imo is to trade Couts. He makes any team at worst middle of the road. Him being out last year helped us tank and get a stellar player. But we aren’t doing that and don’t really think we should. So you have the guys we have and you have some good talent on the way. Only thing you can do is draft a lot and draft well. Get the BPA and make trades. You don’t even have to rip someone off like NY did with Zibanejad. You can trade asset for asset like Cutter to an extent.

But if they have Michkov with Couts and TK etc that’s not terrible with adding more these drafts and having a pretty good D and goalie.

I would go after Zegras if available.

One thing thats really important is that they dont include Michkov in their plans. By that I mean, dont look at him as the savior...look at him as thr piece that puts you over the top.

For that to be the case, this team needs to find high in talent that isnt him. To do that, they need more assets to increase their odds of drafting players like that or so they can acquire a player with a high price tag. They have an oppurtunity to do that this TDL, draft, and offseason.

Its a sellers market and guys like Seeler, Walker, Laughton, and Risto are going to be overpaid for. The Fletcher era was about overpaying for what they say as crucial role players. If GMDB wants to really show this is a new era...he can start by flipping the script on that and be the one gettimg overpaid for these types of players that dont move the needle.

I like laughton a lot...but hes not essential. A 1C is. A 1D is. They need those before the need role players.

Agreed, trade Risto to the Leafs and Walker and Laughton to the Oilers.

After tonight’s games, I must say that there are teams that are in bad need of what Briere supposedly has for sale. These trading partners are not in a position to wait for the TDL to make moves. If they do they might well be out of contention for the POs. Ex-Toronto and TB aren’t slightly in need of d-men. There are other clubs in similar straits.
