I can't see Edmonton trading Bouchard, even when desperate. I can see Edm wanting Walker and maybe Laughton, for character/checking.

Agreed.

I'd try and nab Bouchard because if they can make him competent at D like they did with Risto and he can maintain his offense, that's an elite talent.

Apparently anyone but tbeir big 2 is available. Someone earlier in tbis thread posted they arent happy with his development and may try to move him before they have yo decide on a new contract.

Idk whats true but it seems like if there was ever a time theyd move him its now.

I think itd have to be around hart eith walker included and id be okay with both.

Fair enough but if he’s not worth signing for them, why do we want him? Are we going to go after all the players with suspect skating?

Rolling the dice on a talented young player and betting a change of scenary could unlock something.

I dont think hes been bad theyre just being impatient bc they want to win now. That said, I havent seen enough of him play to know...id just like to see them take some swings.

If Bouchard’s development is stalled what makes you think Torts could help him?

Brad Treliving just seems like the kind of GM who would have also been lining up during the Risto sweepstakes of 2021 + would now be falling under the spell that the Leafs lose in the playoffs because they lack Ristolainen-type toughness (See: Signing Ryan Reaves)

Identifying these sucker-in-waiting GMs is something Briere needs to prove that he can do.

They don’t have anyone with that kind of number but they do have guys like Kampf and Reaves who would assuredly be Torts Guys.

Don’t know how this works without knowing what happens with Nylander.
