I feel if Bouchard could be had by Edmonton...Briere has to make it happen. 24 is still really young for a Dman and they need a guy on D with his upside. Any available D or C at his age with top line potential should be at the top of their list...bc that doesnt happen often.

Thats a young prime defense to get excited about.

I can't see Edmonton trading Bouchard, even when desperate. I can see Edm wanting Walker and maybe Laughton, for character/checking.

I'd try and nab Bouchard because if they can make him competent at D like they did with Risto and he can maintain his offense, that's an elite talent.

Rolling the dice on a talented young player and betting a change of scenary could unlock something.

I dont think hes been bad theyre just being impatient bc they want to win now. That said, I havent seen enough of him play to know...id just like to see them take some swings.

If Bouchard’s development is stalled what makes you think Torts could help him?

If there’s been one area of this club that’s been a positive it’s been Shaw and his work with the defensemen. Been getting lemonade out of lemons. Seeler, York and even Risto stand out as improved.

Brad Treliving just seems like the kind of GM who would have also been lining up during the Risto sweepstakes of 2021 + would now be falling under the spell that the Leafs lose in the playoffs because they lack Ristolainen-type toughness (See: Signing Ryan Reaves)

Identifying these sucker-in-waiting GMs is something Briere needs to prove that he can do.

They don’t have anyone with that kind of number but they do have guys like Kampf and Reaves who would assuredly be Torts Guys.
