Briere did not work with Holmgren once hired, if there was any close connection, it was with Camille and Comcast. He was groomed for GM, taught the business side of the job, then put in place to observe for a year before replacing Fletcher.

All you have to do is look at who they drafted and signed. to see the difference
draftedd Michkov, Barkey, Ciernak, signed Brown. Auditioned Fauchon (who they still might sign).
drafted Bonk and Sotheran, mobile D-men, Added Mete, fast D-man, to the Phantoms.
FAs, Poehling can skate, Hathaway is a decent skater for a mucker.

Dumped Hayes, JVR, Bellows, Lemieux,
Hodgson, Connaughton and their contracts were thrown into the Provorov trade.
TDA and Willman are the only good skaters gone from last season's team.

It's clear that one goal this season was to get faster throughout the system.

Ah yes. Danny Briere famously didn't work with Holmgren.

With Scott gone, the advisors have no channel of influence, no evidence that Hilferty talks to any of them on a regular basis - he genuflects in their direction as a nod to Flyer tradition.

Flahr came in with Fletcher, other than that he has no Flyer connections.
He has a good relationship with Briere, and they just had an excellent draft.

Brown was demoted as director of pro scouting, probably kept around as a "soft landing" for a long-time employee.
A few other scouts retired, new head of player development.

I think with Lappy, they may like how he interacts with young players, and the assistant coaches do the teaching. Phantom players certainly didn't look lost when they were promoted last season.

They have Hilferty, who loves them and assured us he would work with them.

Nothing has changed. Lappy is f***ing incompetent. Everything you defend you have been wrong about for years. Literally everything! It's amazing.

Pretty convenient that Homer stays in power long enough to absolve Chuck of any blame, but not long enough to have impact on any decisions made now, considering his position and title haven't changed at all.

I guess the Flyers whisperer, despite the fact he claimed he has no idea how the team is run, has insider information the rest of us aren't privy too.
Huh? Holmgren was President in 2018, Stepped down in July 2019. Now a "senior advisor."
He had a lot of pull with Scott, who he worked with since 2016, not sure he has any with Jones.

So you agree that after Homer was no longer president in 2019, Fletcher was running the show and responsible for all the absolutely awful moves from then forward?

There is literally no indication he had any special pull with Scott. That's something you dreamed up to be an alternate reality, because you can't handle that your hero Clarke and all his people have have destroyed the franchise.

The "awful moves" didn't come until the summer of 2021, with Scott/Barber in control, setting the mandate for an "aggressive reload."

id argue picking york over caufield counts as an awful move
Not if Brink turns out to be a solid player.

I'm not sold on Caufield, too much like DeBrincat, will get overpaid for scoring, but not sure he's a key player for a playoff push.

Course it does.

Giroux, and Lindros in the last what 30 years?

It’s just nice we are doing the Hextall plan again a few years later. What could go differently with largely the same antiquated influences, and trash scouting department?

The fact you put "awful moves" in quotations really says a lot.

"Fletcher made no bad moves. But the ones he did, it was Holmgren twisting his arm. Except when it was Scott/Barber, then Holmgren had no input so I can say Homer also has no influence today".

Pretty in depth analysis for someone who claimed to have no idea how this team is managed. This discourse is a waste of time, we both know we won't agree on your takes.

No person has ever needed a new hobby more.

HFBoards would rather see homeless people run this team it seems. Get a life Beef.

Is the current regime doing a good job? Should all these people responsible for years of failure remain employed? Why do you support losers?

Every time you come at me you end up slinking away after your wrong pot shot. If you actually reply it'll be the first time in a long time. Enjoy running away.

Or you could just ignore the depressed whiners who complain about imaginary issues?

I don't know if Briere/Torts will make this work, but if you don't see them doing differently, you're blind, deaf and dumb. There's an emphasis on team speed.

It's just that a certain contingent believes if you're not tearing it down and tanking, you're not rebuilding. Which is crap.

The question isn't whether they're rebuilding, the question is whether, unlike Hextall, they're committed to sticking with the rebuild for an extended period. And only one way we'll find out.

It is the long-term commitment, rather than the specific approach, that matters.

The teams that flub rebuilds tend to declare mission accomplished too soon, go out and sign big money FAs (and/or trade for them) and get themselves into cap hell without building NHL and prospect pipeline depth.

Please feel free to continue to intentionally misrepresent what the majority of us define as rebuild and tanking. You know the things that you called tanking in the past but now claim is rebuilding as if you’re some savant.

They’re already laying the groundwork to call this mission accomplished and cut the whole thing short. To steal a quote from you, “you’re blind, deaf, and dumb” if you don’t recognize that.
