Friday and now today, Friedman connecting Mathieu Joseph to the Flyers. Flyers have a prospect they want included in the deal but Ottawa has balked at it. Also corroborated Anthony DiMarco’s reporting.

"Multiple sources have told TFP’s David Pagnotta the Flyers are interested in forward Tyler Boucher"

Friedman also said the Flyers liked Joseph as a player for what it is worth. We know their pro scouting never fails!

This place will set itself on fire if that happens.

Prospect is probably Greig, Ottawa would give up Boucher in a heartbeat.
And I doubt the Flyers have any interest, they already have Wisdom who is a better version.

You really don't understand how this organization operates.
Neither do you. The advisors are gone (have you heard a peep from them the last six months?), Hextall is gone, Brown is demoted, a number of scouts are gone.

"This organization" doesn't exist anymore.

Just look at the last draft, Michkov, Barkley, Ciernak, they signed Brown, Fauchon in camp - guess they're not fixated on big muckers like Hextall was.

On the one hand, the guy is way under a PPG player in TWO post-draft OHL seasons.

On the other, they somehow picked him at 10. Maybe the Sens just value him more than I do and that’s the reasonable take here, not wide assumptions.

Even seeing his name as a potential target is terrifying as a Flyers fan.

I think Dorion also wants to come out not looking like a moron to new ownership. Kubalik or Detroit's first looks bad, as does a recent 10th overall.

How many times does it need to be stated that not hearing from them doesn’t mean anything? We didn’t hear from them the last several years but they were there.

The advisors are literally still working the same jobs they've always had. Nearly everyone is. Nothing has changed.

We both heard from them and about them.

For better or worse, it's the Briere/Torts show, with Jones running interference with the media for them.
And they certainly seem to be committed to rebuilding (not a tear down, but a long-term commitment).
Will they make it work? Who knows? But at least they seem to have a coherent strategy, unlike the last decade or so.

Michkov also drastically changed the dynamic, you know you have an elite player coming in three years, so you are under no pressure the next three years to build a winning team, rather, to build up young assets to surround Gauthier and Michkov down the road.

As far as Boucher, here's what Wheeler wrote about him in January:

Boucher is a flawed player who might just make it anyway. There is a lot to like. Off the ice, he has always been credited as a physically and emotionally mature kid who is articulate, polite, intelligent, and built broad like an NHLer already. On the ice, he hits like a truck, gives it his all between whistles, and plays with power. But he hasn’t been able to escape injury troubles for three seasons now, his statistical profile doesn’t promise NHL, and his game can lack dimension beyond his physicality, his strength, and his NHL shot (it really pops off of his stick).

He’s got quick hands and some soft skill, but he’s not a particularly quick skater. He’s not a particularly dangerous or threatening rush player. His catch-and-release is both effortless and powerful (though he can miss the net a little too much for my liking).

Can he become a complementary power forward in a bottom-six role? I think so. He certainly has some NHL tools. Will he produce like a No. 10 pick? Not likely.

The FLyers are loaded with RW prospects, Foerster, Brink, Wisdom, Tuomaala, Gendron, Kaplan, and some kid in Russia. They have Allison, Laczynski fighting for a roster spot. Boucher makes zero sense.

Ostapchuk would be a better fit as a LW who'd be ready about the time they dumped Joseph and Laughton. Greig would make sense as a middle six center who can play LW, an area where they lack depth. Bernard-Docker would make sense as RHD depth.

For worse.

The advisors are gone?

Who have the Flyers hired in the last decade that are not former Flyers or have connections to those advisors?

Who has the team actually fired, since Hextall/Pryor?

This team is a perfect example of professional incest. Nobody without early dementia believes the lying. Changes my ass.

They are still listed as advisors, and in fact, they added that complete moron Bryan Murray (who tanked Anaheim) as ANOTHER advisor.

how do you say this every day with a straight face? It just simply is not true. They are running the Ronald blue print.

Long term commitment but 3 years is the goal.

he will never be an nhl regular. Drafted off his dads name and influence.
I don't really disagree with that first part, but why would the Senators be influenced by Brian Boucher? By all accounts he was going to be a first rounder or right outside of the first. 10 was definitely too high I think even then it was a headscratcher but I can't imagine Brian Boucher was angling for Ottawa to take him at ten and they were in any way influenced by him. More than likely it was because of the pandemic and he was playing for the 67s so the scouts probably felt more familiar with him than others.

Either way, not really interested in him here. Honestly if they are pursuing guys to take a roster spot from what we already have I would prefer they sign someone to a deal that can be traded at the deadline. I bet Kessel on a league minimum deal would be able to be flipped at the deadline. Is he still kicking about?

The powers that be with this team never had an ounce of objection to how Hextall managed the actual hockey stuff. In fact, they loved all of that. Doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down on all of it, and all his processes. If he had pandered to Clarke he could still be GM.

Your timeline is off. He was drafted out of the NTDP, not the 67s. He missed almost his entire draft year with an injury. He also was almost universally ranked as a 2nd rounder.

Tortorella was hired entirely at the behest of the senior advisors. They arf arf arf'd like seals over him. Considering he's now the Flyers' Spiritual Leader, you can't simply disentangle the advisors from the current operations. You definitely don't have to considering they're still all listed as advisors.

Even if you generously want to say they have taken a step back, they were integral in hiring the next generation of inbreds. Briere was Holmgren's protege. Jones is a Bullies hero worshipper with zero front office experience. How did his name come up in POHO talk.....quantum fluctuations? We're just entering the 90s-00s version of the 70s-80s cronies, with their approval.

Lombardi and Murray are probably the two names you want to single out as having daily influence. Two trash has-beens, bitter about their GM jobs ending, whose philosophies perfectly coalesce with the trash philosophies of this organization. They're corrosive influences.
