One or two players can drag down a line and maybe a prospect would have succeeded if put in a better position with better line mates. 99% of players aren’t prime Crosby where a coach can wave down two guys from the upper deck and the line would produce like a top 6 line. I just want the young guys with potential to get a fair shake and I don’t think that is playing with journeymen, AHL/NHL tweeners, and failed prospects. I think it says more if a player is failing with our top 6 guys than if they aren’t producing when playing with literal who’s.

I mean, you can account for this though. Well, probably not the Flyers. They probably think anyone who can't succeed with a rock solid reliable Deslauriers must be slime.

I'm not sure it's the scouts so much as organizational philosophy, until Flahr came on board.
Hextall drafted a lot of big forwards with limited speed and skill in the middle rounds, and reached for Ratcliffe. Can't think JOB was a scouting decision either. He and Holmgren were generally allergic to smaller, skilled players, though there were exceptions, Ghost in the 3rd, G late in the 1st, TK late in the first, Kase (5th)

Flahr in the first three rounds has already drafted York, Brink, Andrae, He also took Millman, Desnoyers, Gendron, Ciernek. Avon as a UDFA.
Even the bigger players have been more skilled, Foerster, Samson, Gauthier, Kaplan,
The only "old" Flyer picks have been Brodzinski (7th rd), McDonald (6th rd), Mann (7th rd).

It'll be interesting to watch if these more balanced drafts produce more talent.

This whole hockey Canada thing was supposed to be revealed (for a 3rd time) yesterday, what is going on?
No one that’s a party to the investigation has said when it would be released.

It was all speculation yesterday because it’s a Friday and a long weekend for Canadians so it’s a good time to bury it.

I read that the guy who put it in twitter saying it's 5 players for sure, was one of the most trusted and reliable sources (according to asf)

So I guess the next window is the All-Star break?

It's like a band-aid, I can only think they are making sure all the t's are dotted and the i's are crossed. If they release it and it gets challenged by a player or agent and find out something is wrong.
The timing of the London Police decision on charges is up to them and prosecutors. If they lay charges, all the players will likely be suspended pending trial. If not, then Hockey Canada will have to decide who gets suspended and how long and the NHL will face a similar situation. Not sure if HC/NHL can release report first, as it would be seen as interfering with the trial.

I think it is probably more sinister. They don't care about crossing T's and dotting I's, they are trying to strategize the best way to protect the brand because they really don't care about what happened other than it will make HC and/or the NHL look bad. If it isn't released before opening night it won't be released until after the season. Book it.

However, the teams impacted want to have certainty, how do you negotiate trades and contracts without knowing if a key player is going to be suspended, when and for how long?

I think there's a concerted effort to roll this out with the least amount of negative impact possible. Teams not being able to make a move is a sacrifice they're making to protect the brand. The owners don't really give a shit about winning and losing (at least not as much as making money) and they can make whatever trades are available later. This is about damage control and they're going to minimize and downplay things because there's probably a lot more rumblings of other scandals that were swept under the rug like the Blackhawks who suffered no real consequences and now have the next big generational star. The almighty dollar trumps all. No matter what comes out at the end of the day they'll downplay and minimize it and will say the same dumb shit people always say, "Well, PLAYER X isn't a bad guy this was likely just kids he has learned and grown since then" and the players will serve their suspension and if they are good players we'll see them again in the NHL and most will forget about it (or simply not acknowledge or care). We see it all the time in sports.

I can’t think of many players that have come back from gang rape charges in sports. If this is as bad as it’s made out to be it’s probably a career ender

There are a laundry list of guys that have done terrible things that are still employed in professional sports (among other places). Whether it is sexual assault, domestic violence, or something else, if they are good enough they bounce back.
