2. He has someone specific in mind, which is maybe more likely. I could see that person being Will Smith. I could see it NOT being Michkov (which includes reason 1 above).
So if the flyers trade up and Michkov is available, and they take Will Smith over him.....well thats the end of all the years I wasted supporting this team.

Fantilli is a similar caliber player to Eichel. They are different players. Eichel had a better IQ where as Fantilli has more skill. Carlsson is very similar to Petterson. Will Smith? Will Smith should be good not fully certain who I would compare him to. All 3 track pretty great.

Here's the kicker of the sentiment though....you just passed on generational potential for a ptobably good 1st liner. Astounding....and not in a good way. Passing on a player tracking better as prospect than Ovechkin. The equivalent of passing on McDavid for Eichel. The equivalent of passing on Matthews for Laine. Crosby for whoever went after him.

If this happens, it will likely be the lowest moment in my time as a philly sports fan. All the years of watching Crosby dump on our team and thinking damn Giroux great, but what if. All the years of watching Patty Kane stunt on the league and walk away with 3 cups as we got stuck with JVR and thinking what if. Watching Ovechkin finally win a cup and thinking damn wish it was me.

Now there is a chance this team could actually get this caliber of player and they pass. Well....I'm done with em.

Michkov will come over. What happened to Fedotov sucks but no 1st round talent from Russia even Miro-(however you spell the rest) that Washington took last year is coming over. In this case when Michkov comes over we will get to watch him light us up and know it is not that we didn't get a chance, we had the chance and we passed. Childhood be damned, if they get the opportunity to draft Michkov and pass on I am out.

Thats my thoughts. Farewell

I get that this is just discussion and wishful thinking, but it's not realistic to hold out hope for moving up to 4 or 2.

The last time a known top 4 pick was traded was 2004. There wasn't even a cap yet.
I think it's been a decade since a known top-10 was traded in a pick swap.

This is why player reputation matters as much as actual on-ice performance.

Sure, this is Marek just speculating, but I don't doubt for a second that some GMs could have this mentality. Hart has been a highly touted prospect, has indirect "ties" to Carey Price through BS like in this tweet, and is likely the heir apparent to be Team Canada's goalie of the future. There is no doubt that some GMs get overexcited by the "resume" I just listed and thus overvalue him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Briere has a chance to seriously rip someone off here. He just needs to find that sucker.

Friedman also brought up Buffalo for Hart. Had Ottawa denied to him.

ASF has Hart as a 50/50 right as to if he gets traded. He still maintains Hayes is gone & adds DeAngelo to the gone list as well.

I truly hope those f*** faces are gone. Even if we hold onto half of Hayes, get rid of TDA and eventually trade Hart, even if we don't take back Salary, the Flyers will be above the floor.

I think Briere would jump on Michkov, it's obvious he's looking at a 3-5 year timeline, so waiting a couple years for Michkov (while you audition other forwards) would not be a problem. I mean they didn't push Gauthier to turn pro.

Montreal, Toronto, & San Jose seem like they’d have the assets to go after Hart.

Maybe Detroit, which I haven’t heard mentioned.

Toronto has a bit of a net logjam with Matt Murray & an RFA Samsonov, though, that could get in their way.

I agree with deadhead in that I don’t know why Buffalo would be interested unless they’ve soured on Levi.

If there's any team that thinks like this, it's Montreal.

I absolutely think that getting LA to retain on Provorov has to do with the Flyers preparing to retain on two other players, Hayes and one other. DeAngelo makes sense since they want him gone and he's overpaid. How about Atkinson? Surprised his name hasn't come up.

Atkinson will play, once they figured out what was wrong, the actual surgery was fairly routine.
And he's had almost a year to rehab after surgery.
Problem is he's unmovable until he plays and shows he's 100%.

The guy to watch is Walker, had an ACL tear in 2021-22, struggled a bit last year but was still a decent 3rd pair D-man, two years removed may bounce back a bit and position himself as a prime asset at the TDL.

If Atkinson is even gonna play again.

I think so..I just hope it's not for us. No point for the Flyers or for where he's at in his career. He has two years left at north of $5 million. We should look to move him with retention if he's healthy enough to play. I suppose it could wait for the deadline to see if he can pump his value back up.

It could just be for optionality. Provorov and Hayes would be 2 and 3 years of retention, and you only can retain on 3 players. It’s certainly possible they just eat DeAngelo’s contract (Chuck!) just to move him. But having a slot or two open means they can get creative to add picks.

I still worry Columbus offloads a bad contract like Gudbranson on the Flyers in lieu of retention. And without a good enough asset in addition. They have too many defenders. Side note: Columbus possibly wanting heavy retention on both Provorov and Hayes from the Flyers? Bit greedy with their cap space.

Atkinson was expecting to be cleared the week after the season ended.

To get to #2 in this draft will cost a shitload. You can legitimately make the case that Fantilli goes 1st overall in at least 8, and possibly 9, of the last 10 drafts.

First, the Flyers would need to package #22 with something (and not anything I’ll be mentioning later) to get into the top 10. Then you take that pick, 7OA in 23, the Flyers 1st in 24 with no restrictions and Hart along with a good prospect or 2 (think Brink and/or Andrea) and maybe that gets you Fantilli.

I just don’t see them pulling it off.

One problem is Flyers only have $6.8M in cap room right now.
