Just for shits and giggles, consider the possibility that Ersson is a better goalkeeper than Hart. When Ersson played there seemed to be an edge to his game that was better. The rebound that he controlled that Hart wouldn’t have and would end up in the back of the net. The softie that didn’t get let in. Etc. Granted it was a SSS but Ersson showed a spark that Hart lacked.
Ersson might turn out to be the better goaltender, but Hart had a great PO - and a lot of goalies melt under PO pressure.
A young goalie who has demonstrated he can handle the bright lights has real value to a potential SC contender.
Hart may be one of those good goalies who can take it to the next level for a stretch and can handle pressure, see Hill this season.

I think for the Flyers, it also depends on their evaluation of Kosolov and if they know whether Fedotov is going to "escape the Gulag."
With a couple viable options, it's easier to trade Hart and gamble on Ersson.

I know it’s been discussed before, but I don’t know if it’s come up since the trade became a possibility. The thing that made Hart special as a Goalie prospect was his relative low risk, not elite reasonable upside. It’s not just the aging curve here. If someone wants to pay through the nose for that archetype when it looks accurate, you take it.

If you have built your team well, a consistently reliable goalie is all you need. You don't need a guy stealing games. That's of value to many teams out there. There are already concerns about his durability, too. He's quite possibly a guy who wears down around 30. This team won't be ready by then.

Maximize value now.

Not to mention other vets like Hayes are likely on their way out with Provorov.
I wonder where Hayes ends up now, and what the cost will be to move him. Are Columbus really going to want two helpings of sloppy seconds from the Flyers in one summer?

If Torts wasn't such a tool they have kept Hayes till he had fewer years and less money left on his deal, making him a much easier sell. As of today he's owed another $17m.

Price is finished, it sounds like his knee won’t cooperate.

He also said that Briere is not going to move him to move him, he has a price that must be met.

He had a billion miles on him by the time things started going.

Fleury is an ageless wonder, especially with his style. There is a point where I begin weighing competent longevity as worthy of the HOF, and Fleury has gotten there for me. It's an incredible feat all on its own for him to have remained good for so long. If he wants to he could be an OK 1B next season.

Sounds like Fleury is content finishing out his deal in Minnesota

Honestly, considering how long he's signed for, I think Edmonton is a bit weird at this point since they have Skinner. While he's not the end all be all, he was a shit load better than Campbell this year and is Hart's age.

Montreal has an extra 1st in 2023 (FLA #31) and 2025.
Hutson #1 (doubt he's available), Farrell LW #2, Beck C #3,

Ottawa no 2023 1st, 2nd or 3rd
Grieg C #1,

Edmonton, no 2023 1st or 3rd
Holloway C #1, Bourgault W #2, Broberg LHD #3

Toronto, 2023 1st (Bos), no 2nd, 3rd
Knies LW #1, Robertson LW #2, Minten C #3,

Not sure any of these teams are ideal trade partners. Montreal can probably put the best package together.

I thought price was out due to mental health issues? I know he has had knee issues but I thought his leave was all due to severe anxiety and panic attacks?

Just checked main boards rumour trade thread about Hart, a lot of people on gear or high there or what
Sir, we don't go there, that's the worst place to go, think of this place as a safe town, and then picture you flashing millions of dollars walking down a dark alley in Camden NJ and that would be the main boards

Also, has been consistent that Briere wants to be in the top 4.

If this is true, it is for one of two reasons you'd think.

1. There is too much uncertainty after the top 5 in this draft and he wants a sure thing.

2. He has someone specific in mind, which is maybe more likely. I could see that person being Will Smith. I could see it NOT being Michkov (which includes reason 1 above).

Right, they should want someone specific and think they have to do it to get him, so it is Carlsson or Smith.

However, how he has been framing this the entire time is that they want to make a big splash and invigorate the fan base. Which really means, after years of being forced to sell the garbage we’ve seen and the head coach being the face of the franchise, Valerie Camillo is desperate and begging them to come up with a player they can market to sell STH’s.
