Maybe the deals just weren't there. You have to find a buyer.

He's been a GM for short period of time. The reactions of this forum really indicate how little this forum can handle a rebuild from a mental standpoint.

Handle what rebuild? Catering to Tortrella while holding your highest value players isn't a rebuild. Shall we apologize for being mad the team is not doing a rebuild? That's the opposite of being mentally unable to handle a rebuild.

If they were interested in holding players to get a good deal then Hayes would still be a Flyer. The rumors for Laughton were easily fair value too.

Tk, sanheim, hart, and couts can all still help us (if they resign) once michkov arrives. Unless we wanna just completely start from scratch. Kings still kept doughty/kopitar while they rebuilt. All 4 of those guys will still be very effective players, with only couts being close to mid 30s. Sanheim would still be on a great contract.

We don't need them hanging around handing us pointless wins - that's how we got to 7th instead of 3rd. We lucked out this time, but we need to sink for Steve Eiserman next year at 2.

They're not tanking, they have no intention of tanking.
On the other hand, I doubt they're focused on winning the next three seasons either.
Notice almost no players were traded on draft day, and only a few leading up.
So it's not just Briere, the how league was playing it cool.

Couturier is gonna be 37 when MM is hitting the usual prime years. TK 33. Sanheim 34. Hart will be 31, and it's not at all unusual for goalies who are good in their 20s to hit a hard wall in their 30s.

I'd like to avoid a repeat of 2011 where there was a huge mismatch between the expected opening window of Couturier/Schenn and the guys drafted after, and all the valuable older players they kept. If we want to maximize the window we have with Michkov, then those aren't the guys who will be doing that.

TK is the only one I'd probably entertain keeping, but I still lean towards sale.

What a monumental waste of time.

I’d lean more towards farabee than TK.

I doubt they'll move on from Couturier. Right now he's a big question mark in terms of value.

If he can get back to what he once was they should absolutely move him.

This is NOT the way.

Also, the Kings absolutely would have moved Kopitar & Doughty but both signed massive extensions after their Cups. Despite being good players still, they are not worth their price tag and would have been nearly impossible to move.

They're going to keep all their actually valuable players until next deadline/summer to see them possibly depreciate, get injured, or just help improve the team's draft standing from 4th to 10th? They're delusional: nothing says they'd even trade them then because another excuse is alway around the corner. Make it make sense.

What even is this 3 year window they talk about? Missing the playoffs for 3 years isn't rebuilding. They're not actually collecting assets in bulk; they're too afraid to trade 3rd liners and 3rd pair defenders. Because Tortorella can't stomach being a bottom 5 team? Because they're too afraid of ticket sales short-term? Because of Flyer pride? It's not about tanking, it's about having a realistic vision of this team still being a ways away.

What it seems like they're doing is twiddling their thumbs in no man's land, and then Michkov will come here on his ELC......and they won't have a team around him? And then they'll fritter those years away too and then band-aid it. Their defense core ain't it long-term, they don't have anyone that projects as a true 1C (2C up in the air), and Michkov might be the single elite talent up front. Not good enough. Not unless you think Columbus 2018-19 was your blueprint for a contender.

Can I tell you a secret?

Doughty basically said to trade him if they weren’t going to start trying to win. I don’t know if Kopitar was they blunt but he’s part of that.

and how much of stuff by twitter people has been more or less just hearsay?

Maybe they leaked that information on purpose to drive up his price to see if someone bites.

No one knew they met Michkov in Vorhees from what I can tell and people love to rag on the Flyers management for being idiots who leak everything.

Please post the rumor from a credible source. Keep in mind it's still just a rumor.

He's been a GM for how long now?

TDA is likely gone, Hayes is gone, Provorov is gone. He wants to trade Sanheim.

Deals take time. I can't believe I have to sit here and type this out to you guys. Calm down and have a shred of patience.

If TK and Laughton is here after the TDL, feel free to hang Danny by the gallows.

Konecny, Sanheim, Laughton, and Hart will all finish with the Flyers next season. I can feel it in my bones.

When Michkov comes over the team will be a mess, some talent on forward but no defense. He will be good enough to keep them from picking top 10 but the team will never be good enough to contend. After 11 years of Michkov on the flyers he will walk in FA and our decades long vigil will continue.

Couts and Sanheim are signed long-term but TK isn't. his contract is up in 2 years and he's not signing a 2 or 3 year deal then. he's gonna want to get paid. and want good term as well. are we gonna lock into TK for another 8-10 years with a crazy caphit when he's clearly gonna be replaced by Michkov as the teams RW1 in 3-4 years?

i'm fine keeping Couts around to shelter the kids until his contract runs down (maybe Sanheim too) but TK definitely has to go at some point. either at the TDL or at next year's draft.

Laughton should be the first to go though. it's criminal that he wasn't moved before this year's draft.

Are we that strapped for cap space? Why hasn't Briere taken on any cap dumps?

Also reading that Briere shut down that package for Laughton is not good. Looks like we have another GM that isn't really calling the shots
