Trading your top three dmen for cap dumps, picks and prospects would definitely be rebuilding. And nothing like what Fletcher did.
Uh, Fletcher traded Gostisbehere, Voracek, etc in an attempt to retool, fix culture, and to make a coach happy. That sure looks exactly like what they're doing here.

Wait, so we’re going to be good in 3 years with what defensemen? Because ASF also once said they basically hate their organizational depth there.

2007 to 2010 was 3 years, so they have a precedent set and must adhere to it.
i mean sure, 3 years can work. if they trade for a future hall of fame elite #1 defenseman like Chris Pronger. are there any of those available? this team probably thinks they can get one with...wait...oh no...

Shame on us fans. We were fools to fall for the rebuild mantra. The Flyers have never rebuilt nor will they ever. They truly believe they are th gold standard. After the dreaded Adam Oates trade, I believe snider sid never again would they sacrifice the future for an attempt at immediate results. i believe that lasted 3 months......

In no world do you rebuild by keeping TK and SL on the roster.

I disagree. I think this is completely different. Hayes may or may not have been traded right now to appease Torts, but Hayes had no future in a rebuild anyway. I wouldn’t have done it now (if only to alleviate the impact), but I think it’s plausible he was going to buy Hayes out now. Whatever the case, Hayes was living on borrowed time. If Briere turns around and starts using draft picks to acquire players and signs players off the UFA market to improve the team now, then I think you’ll have a point.

Fletcher paid a 2nd to make room for Risto, swapped one veteran forward for another, traded two young players for a veteran dman with a huge contract, and then spent 3 draft picks on Angelo.

That's not similar to what Briere has done so far.
