I don't care if they have a BELIEF as to how long it will take to rebuild this thing. I care if they've put an artificial deadline on it. It takes as long as it takes and that's fine by me. The problem is that in three years they will declare Mission Accomplished no matter the reality.

That said, I really have no idea why they believe three years will be sufficient. It's not like the NBA where top draft picks play immediately. And then when they finally do make the NHL in a year or two, they are far far away from their prime. So what are we competing with in 3 years? A hobbled over Couts centering a second year Gauthier and Tippett? A rookie we draft next year? A backend of York, Risto and journeyman since its unlikely a rookie D will be ready by then. It's just a ludicrous statement.

OK, everything but the one guy. The one guy who they were mandated to move from Corporate.

So far it's just another Culture Reset.
They also tried to move Sanheim in a deal for a 1st. I don't think it was a good deal, but it's definitely part of a rebuild to ship out an 27 year old on a 8 year contract and get a first rounder back.

Fletcher paid a 2nd to make room for Risto, swapped one veteran forward for another, traded two young players for a veteran dman with a huge contract, and then spent 3 draft picks on Angelo.

That's not similar to what Briere has done so far.
Is trading what amounts to malcontent who had one foot out the door that also caused a PR shitstorm for the organization, a malcontent at forward that the coach clashed with, a malcontent on defense that also clashed with the coach while holding onto other players of value what you would consider a rebuild?

They're at this very moment pulling "culture fixes everything" card that they always pull.

I can't believe that c*** saddled us with John f***ing Tortorella before he finally f***ed off, and the new f***ing c***s are too stupid to even keep him out of the way, but instead are letting him f*** everything to pieces. This is not a reasonable punishment for whatever we did in the past that has enraged the multiverse. This is not a proportionate response. F***.

Shame on us fans. We were fools to fall for the rebuild mantra. The Flyers have never rebuilt nor will they ever. They truly believe they are th gold standard. After the dreaded Adam Oates trade, I believe snider sid never again would they sacrifice the future for an attempt at immediate results. i believe that lasted 3 months......

In no world do you rebuild by keeping TK and SL on the roster.
In no world do you rebuild by keeping TK and SL on the roster until they’re competitive again. If Briere decides that he MUST trade TK and SL today, then this organization is really screwed. Maybe there’s a little bit of urgency with Sanheim because of the NMC, but there’s zero need to accept anything less than full value on TK. Briere’s best hand is to set a high price now and stick to it. Teams will be tripping over each other to acquire him at the deadline.

I’m going to go out and yell at my tomato plants for not already producing fruit.

That's all well and good but what happens when TK gets injured? Or his stats drop off because he's playing on a line with literal slop? All while increasing our point total along the way. I'm not saying trade him for anything but this organization has proven time and time again that they only trade people once they've driven their value into the ground.

Being outside of the city, maybe I was naive.

I was part of that groupchat for the STG yest.

Honestly? I feel like we are the outsiders, not the norm for this fanbase. All the bullshit they sell, how they approach building a team. I get it more now. Trailer park fanbase.
That's absolutely the case. The fans are a huge part of the problem. They buy into this Flyers Way, grit, toughness BS as much as the organization does.

Take a valium, pour yourself a stiff drink, relax.
They're in no rush, Briere has a lot of irons in the fire, and no one has been making deals all day (two trades, one for a 2nd, one for a 3rd).
So take a deep breath, in a few hours it'll all be over, then you'll have something to either vent about or a large helping of crow.

Podcasts tend to attract people who agree with them, so it's gonna give you a skewed perspective.

This is not an HFboards endorsed idea for medical reasons.

What's this three year thing?

Briere has never said 3 years. Jones may have said he thinks it may not take as long as Briere and Torts have suggested, but isn't his job to throw the STHs a bone? A little hope that the walk in the wilderness won't be indefinite?

ASF said the internal belief amongst the front office is they can get this turned around in three years.

The overdose for valium is measured in grams, don't worry, I'm not recommending a cocktail of reds and rye, with a side of cocaine.

What in the world ever became of sweet Jane?
She lost her sparkle, you know she isn't the same
Livin' on reds, vitamin C, and cocaine
All a friend can say is, "Ain't it a shame?

Hockey is very niche here in Philadelphia/USA. So you’re naturally gonna get some cult like tendencies off just that. But with the Flyers it’s a two fold because they’ve essentially programmed a good chunk of these people that this is the only way to operate.

The main stream media here in Philadelphia has referred to them as “Stepford Fans” over the decades in a mocking way because of this.

Internal belief of the FO. What the heck is that? Does a committee have a colon?

Do they think if everything breaks their way, the process could be accelerated? Probably.
But every statement has been open ended, no guarantees, and Briere has been adamant about no short cuts, no big name FAs, etc.

So I wouldn't put too much weight on that until they actually act as if they're on a three year deadline.
