Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid: Flyers Rumors & Media Mentions

It’s funny as shit to me to hear so much about TDA, Hayes, and Sanheim - but Laughton/TK stories all but dead.

The path to a successful rebuild lies in trading the latter two, but it’s not about maximizing assets during this time.

It’s catering to a head coach, and his wishes for perfecting the “culture”.

Gotta assume they are trying to get the harder to do deals done first...TK is basically deciding if your trading him then returning the phone call with the highest bidder....

But its also why it would be great to clear the deck of the Hayes trade asap so you can focus on Sanheim.

I think if you can find a taker for Tony Dickhead, you do it and move on. And Carolina don't have any bad contracts to take back.

Danny boy would be a real wheeler dealer if he pulls that off.

Del Boy Briere. Lovely jubbly.

1:52 to 3:25 is the interesting part. Sanheim says he doesn't know why he was scratched, talks about about how much it hurt him, but also claims it's in the past now and that they've moved on.

Narrator: they hadn't

If the move is to flip him to Boston, then I could see Briere retaining on him.

Angelo - 1 year at 50%
Hayes - 3 years at 50%
Krug - 4 years at 50%

if he had moved on he wouldnt have discussed it..

The Blues have been wanting one of Provorov or Sanheim for a while. With Provorov off of the Flyers, Sanheim became their target. It could be that they wanted a Sanheim for Krug and a first rounder deal which Krug messed up with his NTC. I realize that first rounder picks are valuable but the late late first rounders shouldn't be viewed as outstanding assets. Krug isn't that good and is carrying a contract that costs and has term. I'd keep Sanheim and walk away. Do the Hayes/Retention and be done with it.
An aside here is that there are so many clubs that are handing out NTC and NMC clauses that it's getting to be a problem in making deals. Clubs need to wise up about that and be prudent about giving them to players.
Sanheim for 1st+Krug is another good piece from being decent, but that also means that Hayes @ 50% for nothing is the additional component.

Think it's more about whatever is hotter on his plate, Briere is probably juggling a half dozen deals at the same time, the image is one of those movies with the guy with a half dozen telephones on his desk: "I'll get back to you" "hello, you want to offer me what . . ." "No, don't waste my time with that BS" "What? You want all three of them?" "Uh, I want to order a pizza to go, and no anchovies. [pause] What ? [clicks phone] Oh, man! Nobody will come here at all!"

Hot Rod and Fisto were NEVER leaving under Torts and Jones.

All I want right now is another 1st in this draft. I don’t care how we get it. This team doesn’t entertain us during the season, they can at least give us fans this one night of excitement.

If they sign a bunch of veterans to one year deals, it simply means they got mostly draft picks in their trades and need to patch a bunch of holes to get through the season and not be forced to play prospects before they're ready.

I mean if you're eager to watch Belpido and Marody, Brooks and Wilson in the orange and black . . .

Notice how all of the TK and laughton rumors have died down and now its all about trading Hayes, TDA, and Sanheim.

No doubt torts said no to trading Laughts and TK and pushed danny to trade the 3 players he dislikes the most.

Wow, he's really going out on a limb with that one...
He’s talking about the Blues being in ‘many different markets’ and that he thinks they’re trade both their other first round picks, so that seems to suggest that they could move elsewhere when they get a deal.

Friedman just said on Marek show that the ask for Laughton and Konecny are very high, but teams are interested.

Also mentioned that yesterday was a travel day and for talks to likely heat up again now that everyone is together.

I searched through the CBA as much as reasonably possible over lunch and I didn’t see any clause restricting the Flyers from trading TDA back to the Canes right now. There are clauses that apply to RFAs issued qualifying offers but that wasn’t the case with TDA. The No Circumvention section doesn’t include any language that would remotely apply to this situation. It’s more for situations where you try and do obviously ridiculous things like trading your backup goalie and diminutive but speedy third-line center for future considerations in order to avoid exposing them to a waiver draft then get them back a few days letter for the bargain cost of a late-round draft pick. It would stretch credulity to suggest the Flyers would benefit in this whole series of transactions. The Canes would obviously benefit but that’s only because they were negotiating with Chuck Fletcher, not because they did something unsavory (I would accept the argument that it was unfair for them to take advantage of the Flyers with Fletcher at the helm).

In other words, it would be nice if LeBrun would elaborate or report that he inquired about what specific language in the CBA would prevent a trade of TDA back to NC now, because it’s not clear. Again, it’s not like it violates the spirit of restrictions on circumventing the CBA.

Frank doesn’t seem convinced that a trade with St. Louis is on lock.
Maybe because without the Sanheim component, they are not raping the Flyers so no need to rush into it.

Hayes is a dump
Krug is a longer dump

If we end up retaining on Hayes AND take a longer dump back AND get nothing for that retention, it's an awful trade to do.
