If Sanheim goes it’s clearly a ground up rebuild, unless we get an NHL player in return. Skimming the last few pages I was left with an impression that some are complaining about how bad our defense will potentially be. That’s kind of the point, you can’t have your cake and it too. If the Flyers are tanking the roster is going to look terrible. There is really no other way to do it.

My uneducated, eye test take on York is that's he's a good 3/4 guy on a legit contender. Not really much to complain about, but nothing gamebreaking to me. He's young, and I think he'll get plenty of ice time this year, maybe he develops into a 2b type, but still as the complimentary guy. Not a bad player to have on your team by any stretch. I think he's solid. I also think "solid" compared to the way most of our D have performed the last fear years, makes him look better than he is.

I unbuckled earlier to run to the grocery store. Phills were down 6-3 when I left. They were walking in runs when I got back. f*** it guys, I'm staying unbuckled

They don't need a "scorched earth" rebuild, for one thing, we know even if they finish last, no way they win the lottery.
They just need to garner a bunch of draft picks and prospects and build a team, not half ass it the way Hextall did.

But so are Provorov and Sanheim. Sanheim was a 2nd pair here, and Provorov will be a 2nd pair in CBJ.

The difference is so far York seems to be able to play with different partners, which makes it easier to build a defense with him - and remember, he played RHD as a rookie after being a LHD for most of his college career. So that adds to his value.

Starting to feel it

I wonder if moving out Sanheim puts the club in a position where Reinbacher becomes their choice at seven in the draft?
Briere has been adamant about this being a 3-5 year rebuild, and your needs five years from now could be completely different.
They can always sign another veteran RHD in FA on a short-term deal if they think they need another body.
Plus, let's see how the roster looks by Wednesday, they may pick up another prospect or two.

If Seeler and Risto are half of our top 4, that’s as scorched earth as it gets
Risto was in our top four, I doubt Seeler will be.
York, Walker, Risto, ??? (probably Zamula).
Seeler - Attard
Grans, Ginning, Andrae.

If the Flyers went scorched earth, you would love it. You'd be standing right next to a weed field saying things like, "As I predicted..."
