I think thats York's scouting report....he's looked just as bad as Sanheim in his own end and hasn't shown that ability to jump into the play like Provy or Travis when he's on.....He has to do both to be worthy of his selection... Having a 5'10 player that just moves the puck out of his zone but can't dictate the play in either the offensive zone or defensive zone is nothing to get excited about.... I think he can be better positionally than Sanheim defensively and jump into the play more like Provy which would be great but lets see it this seasonWhat York does is control the game, he's not flashy, he's not extremely skilled, but even as a rookie he just has "it." What I mean by that is he sees what's going on around him and makes the smart, simple play. And he played well with a variety of partners. Do I think he's a #1? Nah, not talented enough. But he can hold his own in almost any role even if he's not going to excel. He'll get better with experience, but he'll never be big enough to be a physical defenseman, fast enough to pressure defenses, doesn't have the big shot from the point. Nothing that'll grab your eye.
Both Provorov and Sanheim tend to be partner dependent, Provorov played very well with Niskanen, Sanheim with Braun, but both struggled with other partners. Sanheim is flashy, especially skating through the neutral zone when he can use his long legs, but he's not that efficient. Provorov wants to be a #1, but simply isn't good enough, he could be a good #2 with the right partner if he played within himself.
The reason I'd take York over both of them is they both lack something, Provorov never really improved and never showed he could raise a partner's game. Sanheim flashes fluid speed, but it doesn't translate into elite offense, and he'll always struggle with power forwards in the D-zone. I think with both, what you see is what you're gonna get - more than last season when both were mediocre - but neither to me is a building block for a rebuild.
Jesus H .....where the hell is my prozac![]()
Can it be worse? The D core of Morin, Hagg, Ghost, Sanheim, and Provorov didn't work out, but surely York playing top pair with Fisto is the path to success.
I remember when we drafted all these guys I said it was going to either make us an elite team or were going to fall flat on our faces.... this org and fan base has never been patient with anything ever.... defensemen you need patience in their development.... we all know now how it ended ...shame reallyThe D core of Morin, Hagg, Ghost, Sanheim, and Provorov didn't work out, but surely York playing top pair with Fisto is the path to success.
I think he definitely sees the ice better than Sanheim, who relies more on his physical skills.I think thats York's scouting report....he's looked just as bad as Sanheim in his own end and hasn't shown that ability to jump into the play like Provy or Travis when he's on.....He has to do both to be worthy of his selection... I agree .....With his size i'm not even sure he has a high floor....Andrae for a little guy plays tough... York plays like Sanheim..... thats not good thing lol... he really needs to show offensive ability to be a legit NHLerThe more I think of this proclamation that York has "it" the funnier it gets. He has a high floor. That's what he's shown. He's also shown he doesn't have a high ceiling, much less "it." And the idea that he controls games is pure delusion. Go back and watch Pronger or Lidstrom to see what a dman controlling a game looks like.
Slurp slurp slurpThings will happen the next few days, it's obvious that Danny Boy is ready to deal, as the draft approaches, teams know their currency is only good until then, afterwards they have to use 2024 and 2025 draft picks and pay more.
We don't know exactly what they discussed, but if Laughton, Sanheim and maybe others were brought up, Briere is ready to reshape this team this summer - going well beyond what Hextall did in 2014.
Ghost had one excellent season, Provorov had two
You can't let facts get in the way...Wait wait wait. They played together in the 2nd half for their best season. So your position here is that Gostisbehere wasn't excellent in the point streak season?!![]()
Haven’t really noticed, Cap.@Striiker you ever get the feeling that there is a second Hostage on this site, in this thread? The similarities are blatant, and nauseating. At least for "some."
ok used car salesmanThings are quiet now but that could change at any moment so stay buckled up.
Unfortunately I have to go back to work tomorrow so I can’t stay buckled up. I doubt I will miss anythingThings are quiet now but that could change at any moment so stay buckled up.
Hart has to be camped in Brieres office till his trade demand goes throu at the prospect of this coming seasons D roster...Provorov gone & Sanheim looking on his way out one way or another Ristolainen is probably gonna be in their top two for ice time next year on the back end. Hell even Seeler might be elevated into the top four. So things can absolutely get worse on the backend.![]()
whoever the bust in the top 7 is! thats who they will sign..They'll draft a projected high floor low ceiling middle six forward/second pair defencemen at 7, then pat themselves on the back for the rebuild being complete.
Ghost was exciting in 2015-16, excellent in 2017-18 until the playoffs, and since then . . .Wait wait wait. They played together in the 2nd half for their best season. So your position here is that Gostisbehere wasn't excellent in the point streak season?!![]()
The way you phrased this has me furious.Mark Streit was really, really good when he was on the Island. Not just very good. Maybe great.
Can we not learn from the last generation and avoid projecting York beyond Provorov and Sanheim yet? Please? Hell, can we not project him to be better than Gostisbehere yet?
