I mean there's been something to talk about with the flyers almost every day for the last two weeks...so wouldn't be surprising if it is intentionally being leaked.

Im assuming at least one of these deals is going to completely fall through

I'd point out that some people were jumping all over the Provorov trade when the initial reports were Walker, Peterson and maybe a pick, then it turned out to be a 1, (2) 2nds and Grans.

I doubt Jones is leaking anything, for one thing, there's a good possibility that both teams have been talking to other teams looking for 3rd party options, especially with the NTC issue - so there would be numerous people with at least some idea of what might be going down. I mean reporters are paid to get on their phone and call around and see if they can find out what's going on.

Hopefully these deals get done before 1:35pm for ASF to focus on the Phillies Game

If you are retaining on Hayes, and retaining on Deangelo, It's tough to use all 3 of your retention spots to go ahead and retain on Krug. I mean I guess you could.... but who else do you need to retain salary to trade?

Risto, Atkinson, Coots at the deadline?

He just had a terrible year. Given the contract, it’s tough to have a meaningful answer without knowing the specifics of negotiations. I would believe everything from negative to a solid pick.

Tough he won’t play for us one year to pump and dump, but that’s where we are and I wouldn’t if I were him either.

Hopefully to the devils for a 2nd. It would prob be late anyway and if he does bounce back that’s a big get for the Devils core roster.

You're not retaining on Risto (3 more years), you're not trading Couts.

Atkinson would have to have a 20+ goal season for a return to be worth retaining, and retention is less valuable at the TDL b/c buying teams often stockpile cap room for the TDL and can fit contracts for 20 games that wouldn't work in September.

You're not retaining on Krug (4 years) unless you're getting an extra 1st rd pick.

However, they didn't "acquire him at $4.5M." They acquired him at the TDL, when they knew how much cap room they had to finish out the season, so they could fit the $1.13M under the Cap. So at that point, all that mattered was whether he'd fit, not whether he was worth his salary. That's different than an AVV of $4.5M in September when it could preclude obtaining/keeping other players.
So you're saying to get better value TDA should be traded at the deadline instead of the off-season?

I can’t imagine they’re too keen on using retention spots that extend over multiple years. It seems like teams really only allocate one retention spot to a long term deal & leave the other two for shorter term deals.

I’d imagine Couturier, Atkinson, & Ristolainen are here for a while.

Except you have to play him substantial minutes to build up that value, including PP1 QB.
If you thought that might get you a 1st, sure, but if the upside is a 3rd rd pick, is it worth it to block York as PP1 QB or take time from Attard/Grans?

As far as the Hayes trade, from NHL Rumors:

"The main writer for the St. Louis Blues on The Athletic, Jeremy Rutherford, released some definitive details on the trade."

So the leaks could easily be from the Blues. Who knows?

Rutherford has no sources with blues. He gets his info from agents and other writers.

People of Twitter claiming Danny as a savior but the guy has made 1 move and had like 4 others leak and fall through
Nothing has fallen through, these deals often take time, there are moving parts, etc.
Krug shouldn't waive his NTC for Philly, but now they need a 3rd team that Krug will be happy to go to.
This is more on the Blues, they should have laid the ground work for the deal.

Scandella is 1yr/$3.25M, Blues have $23M next year, so with Hayes $19M, but have 3 forwards (Kapanen, Vrana, Blais) as UFAs.
Hayes retaining and Scandella would have the Blues break even this year.
Krug is more about adding Sanheim, I think Hayes alone will get you a much smaller return, maybe a 3rd this year and next year.
St Louis would love to swap out Krug for Sanheim (4 years at $6.5M v 8x6). But they have to move Krug.
