Wait are you claiming Provorov is actually 30 years old?
I'm not claiming it as fact, but I am sharing what the word around the youth league was along with my experience speaking to his former teammate at a tryout/camp. His hits certainly felt a bit... mature, but I still don't claim that Provorov being older than he says is a fact. Just sharing my personal experience and the general belief of many that played against(and apparently even with) that Wilkes-Barre team.

What the Wilkes-Barre team did as a whole is more interesting than Provorov potentially forging his birth certificate though. The rumor was they offered "jobs" to parents of euro(mostly Russian) hockey players. Their families then moved to America for "work". Then the kids were "home schooled" and more or less became professional 12-13 year old hockey players. After they won the US national tournament I heard USA Hockey made a rule about only adding like 2 international players per year or something. Another rumor is after they won nationals the Midwest powerhouse youth teams(who had a penchant for billeting players from across the country, which there is also now supposedly a usa hockey rule against) threw a hissy fit that prompted the rule change. "Why is a team with like 5 US players allowed to compete in the US national tournament?" is the question I heard they asked USA hockey.

Briere's comments about waiting for clarification on the league about qualifying Hart seem like a smokescreen at best. Why would they want the headache of having him connected to the Flyers going forward.

And Briere's comments about prospects needing lots of time in Junior and benefitting from years in the AHL sound exactly like what Hextall used to say. He's the same type of GM, just with more deference shown to the all powerful alumni.

So as assumed (barring idiocy) there will be no trades between the two (Flyers-Sens) until they know who is left on the board. What this does say is that the Flyers at least have some modicum of confidence that their top guy is still available at 7.
Probably because it's some dude who is 6'4 and is so far off the board at 12 that the kid isn't even going to answer his phone when they first call him

Let’s say a very good player slips to 7 this is a great plan to get in on it. If not you have your pick. And if they like someone like Eiserman best at their pick then trade back and likely pick up a very nice asset.

If they do this for Parekh are you a Briere believer then?

lol hell no. Even terrible GMs do things right occasionally. Briere has a long, long way to go to prove he's different.

We also aren't in position to sacrifice quantity of picks, and I bet we would do that. This would be a win-now move, in line with the reality that they were never rebuilding.

I have no idea what to think about the Hart stuff but what he says about the AHL and junior is right though. I think you're trying too hard to disparage him there saying he's like Hextall. What he's saying there is what all good GMs say. because it's true.

The Hart stuff is just protecting your assets, not that the Flyers have a great history of that, but if he is acquitted than he will likely be reinstated by the NHL. The Flyers will than have to try and shop him, but they at least want to hang on to his rights. You don't lose anything by holding on to him, if they are found guilty they wont be reinstated so no harm to the Flyers. He's a young, good, albeit inconsistent, player at a high value position.

There’s only one way to think about the Hart “stuff.”

Briere is right, the league needs to give them some direction one way or the other.
