McLeod's soft play was a knock against him in his draft year also. He has always been this player

Yeah McLeod is never going to change. He is 100% a player I look at moving in either this or next offseason. He would hold a decent amount of value in the league as his cap hit isn't bad, his counting stats are decent, he is big/fast, and he can play center. However, I just don't know how you can win in the playoffs with players like him on the team. He very clearly isn't willing to do what it takes in the playoffs to win. It would be a little different if he was scoring or playing really solid defence, but he isn't. He has 1 point through 19 playoff games, and is -7. His fancies are at least not bad I will admit, with his HDCF at 49, and xGF is 53, but his PDO is really bad at .908, so I will at least admit that his low points and bad plus/minus might be attributed to luck.

I like the player well enough, but I would have him on a short string, and if he isn't able to produce next playoffs, would offload him in the summer of 2025 (when our really bad cap crunch is likely to happen).

I heard a Florida guy on 1440 saying that "they are lucky Draisaitl didn't get suspended. Let's be real"

"I trust Skinner in high danger chance situations"

"Florida will dominate a game in Edmonton and get 40+ shots and Edmonton will have to steal it"

That's the typical Florida analyst iq

If the Oilers can come back... Geez. I just want to rub it in every other Canadian teams fan base. I'd probably get banned within a week of winning a cup, but it would be worth it

Its a June-Xmas miracle indeed! Are you also telling my Ratboy DOESN'T have whiplash after that Tyson-like-punch he took from McDavid in the scrum?

Barkov was at least legitimately hurt I will say, he doesn't dive really. He is dirty as f*** with his constant slashes on the hand, but he isn't a diver. Bennet and Ratboy embellish and dive left/right/center.

Sincerely not a Kane hater, but he looked injured or otherwise uncompetitive in Gm 2.

He's demonstrably NOT 2002 Yzerman (he isn't leading nor inspiring anyone) nor is he 2022 Draisaitl (he hasn't evolved his game to continue producing)

Coach needs to make the call and take him out

I don't think he was hurt...he went into concussion protocol and after they went up 3-1, figured there's no point in coming back anyways

So the hacking will go on just long enough for Florida to win four games? Ridiculous but true.

I think the only way to fight it is to start diving and fake crying as well.

It's not like you can make a mockery of a mockery.

It isn't often that I 100% agree with a Staples article. The NHL reffing is so bad that its hard to watch the sport. Until they fix this, they will never have the "break through" that they are constantly chasing. They do a million things off the ice to try and grow the game, including keeping teams in markets they have no right existing in, and they don't bother looking at the actual product they are putting out in the market. The product is what matters most, this is business 101 here, but they consistently do almost everything in their power to make the product in the playoffs a laughable excuse.

This isn't sour grapes from last game either, I have been saying this for years and year and years. Playoff hockey is the worst form of hockey that exists. Game management means that the NHL can't be taken seriously from Vegas, which has huge implications for the game. The problems are anywhere you care to look, and the solution is as obvious as the nose on my face, but the brain-dead NHL leadership can't seem to see the obvious solution.

The sketchy part is playing up the injury to the media in the post game and not going to the gym with the rest of the team yesterday until no suspension is announced.
gamesmanship
no different than Luostarinen rolling around in pain after Foegele hit him...only to come back minutes later

You'd hope the zebras have some pride and actually scrutinize FLA more after their shenanigans but we all know the directive from above as to whom they 'prefer' to win the cup

There was a clip retweeted by Bruce from Cult of Hockey yesterday that looked like 37 didn't even clip him at all.

I swear Oilers culture is too soft. Need to play these stupid games just like everyone else. Always said in the past after we got dicked so many times. If others are diving and playing dirty, so should we. f*** integrity when clearly neither the other teams nor the league as a whole care about that shit

Yeah I would take Gagner over Kane right now. That isn't a slight to Kane either, guy is gutting it out and giving it his best. If he is healthy, he could be a difference maker, but he's not, and it's causing him to be a difference maker in the negative sense.

I remember the LA series we got jobbed by the refs in the first 2 games but they swung back to the middle and started to call it more fair and we took over. I have faith still. I would expect that Holland and Katz were on the phones telling the league to get their shit together.

If this doesn't win us the next 2 games nothing will

I'd 100% sit Kane, he's getting pretty useless at this point trying to play injured.

I say this all the time, but I'd love to be a referee. I'd call all that shit both ways so consistently. But I'm sure there is some agenda. I've watched non oiler games and seen guys drove into the boards from behind and the ref is 10 feet away staring right at that play and no hand goes up.

Abso-f***ing-lutely not. Vinny was dramatically (and is) better than Ceci.

Ceci only plays if Nurse is too hurt
Thats simply not true lol. I understand the Ceci hate around here but Vinny is in no way better than Ceci in any way other than physicality and size. The panthers were running circles around the Oilers in Game 2 and Vin was a part of that

Someone was asking about a backed up view of that Foegele slomo that Staples and McCurdy posted. There it is.

No slomo, but I think it's similar. Again I think contact is in the thigh - I also think Foegele isn't even trying to make contact and any contact with the knee is certainly created by Listerine. 😂

The major and the game misconduct are a joke to me personally.

Any word on whether Nurse will miss next game?
I imagine Ceci draws back in, and possibly going with 7 Dmen (if Nurse dresses)?
