I like the line, McLeod has performed much better on the wing the entire playoffs.
I don't see why Knob is so stubborn to break up that first line when it's obviously hit a wall. A one-line team getting carried by that single line is good if it's producing, but that line hasn't produced at even strength in at least three games now. Spread the wealth by moving Nuge down to the second line. That gets at least one line away from Barkov. It seems like a very simple move. Instead, we have our second-best player flanked by a rookie in over his head and a perimeter player terrified of the slightest contact.

Glad the pearl clutching about Draisaitl is stopped. Minor penalty and no more on a borderline hit. Sounds like Barkov has dipped into their team's miracle curing waters so likely to resume his NHL career. The Panthers are a fake bully that turtles, head snaps, and lay on the ice when pushed back. No hesitancy to take greasy shots at other teams stars but meltdown when the frontier justice is doled back.

Time to reset and jump back into this series.

How do you continue to run RNH-McDavid-Hyman as a line?

Neither RNH or Hyman are capable of making plays with the puck at even strength. RNH wilts and Hyman simply has the blinders on as he's had on his entire career. The fact there isn't a player on a line with McDavid who can effectively pass him the puck is such a bad idea.

Not that it gets any better with the second line. McLeod wilts even worse than RNH, wholly ineffective at evens. Holloway is a waterbug out there and while he certainly is the most capable of passing the puck under pressure, even he is young and often too chaotic.

We are chopping the balls off of our two best players and what do we get in return? Are they on the ice in hopes of going 0-0 with the opposition? Anyone can do that. There is only one combination we have given our lineup that could put pucks in the net at even strength against Florida and that is McDrai.

Go back to McDrai, try and form a 2nd and 3rd line that can play 0-0 defensive hockey and pray our best players can get it done.

My Garmin watch sends me messages that my stress is abnormally high during playoff games.

That's just because Garmin doesn't understand NHL playoffs - your stress level for playoff games is reasonable.

The old meme from the dawn of the Internet was a guy first discovering hockey asking why anyone would ever watch the NHL playoffs when you could get the same rush by just doing backflips midair on your dirtbike while jumping out of your helicopter and simultaneously snorting cocaine off of a hooker. 😂

Its not the officials fault, its the leagues. If they league wanted certain calls being made, you can dam well expect that refs to start making those calls. This is a management problem, not an employee problem.
I agree. The officials are very good at what they do.

The league just doesn't see an issue with it. It's not just awful aghast the Oilers it's just dog shit all around for every team. so inconsistent.

What even is a cross check?

Nice lines. Expect another dogshit game from Draisaitl with zero support. Thanks Knob.

is it Brown or Kane on line 3???????

I highly doubt it, likely just them playing games.
He’s f***ing fine. Florida giving a master class in Gordon Bombay hockey.

Take the fall. Act hurt. Get indignant.

Sad to think that between The Divealanche and this current version of the Panthers is what is the most effective.

I don’t like people taking falls. But it seems to be highly effective. Bleh.

This is part of a GM's job, to surround his best players with other support players so they don't have to rely so extensively on them to win.. or not. And the clown shows in the front office have royally effed up nearly a decade of Draisaitl and McDavid. How utterly incompetent do you have to be to do that? I will never, ever give credit or lend credence to the idea that anyone in that front office did anything of note beyond 1 or 2, literally 1 or 2, outlier trades or signings. In a DECADE's worth of time. FFS.

Agree 100% about Nuge and Hyman. Frankly the entire top 6 has been MIA, and they are looking like they'll go out with whimpers, curled in a fetal position. I mean, don't get all the way here only to go out like this, guys... have some pride.

I blame the NHL more than the Panthers to be honest. I wish we did the same thing.

If the NHL wants to establish a black and white standard that says injury = automatic major/suspension, then there is absolutely no reason not to feign injury. If anything the Panthers shot themselves in the foot, I would have parked Barkov for practice, listed him as "questionable" to try and draw a suspension, then play him anyways.

Yeah it's kind of silly just thinking about it.

Why does the legality of a bit rely at all on the structural integrity of the guy whose receiving it? Take it to the extreme - Would it not be a great strategy to dress a fourth line made of Glass Joe's to get ktfo'd by the entire other teams top line?

You get 15 minutes of pp's and then the entire series without the other teams top players. Easy.

This is an angle that the refs didn't have.

I'm not a fan of spending so much time dwelling on the reffing. It's a very bad sign when it takes up so much oxygen, and it's a loser mindset. I suppose it's okay when fans do it but I'm always glad when the players dismiss this.

The team will start to win when they play better. A couple bad calls wasn't a big factor
Officiating isn't why they are losing this series, but it was such a snap call to confirm the 5 minute major I wonder if they actually looked at all the angles they had available to them.

Sucks how we are back to the same winger situation as last playoffs. Hyman looks broken, probably took too many hits against Vancouver and Dallas. Kane was busted since last October and for whatever reason we never got him fixed. He looks completely useless now. And, that's about it, Nuge sucks 5v5 unless his other linemates can do all the work on the boards and playmaking and he can just sneak into open ice to shoot, and just a rag tag group after that.

Unfortunately, while our centers go to war with their centers with 90% focus on McDavid and Drai, we have lost the winger battle horribly in the first 2 games. Their wingers are finding the open ice and stepping up, ours cannot.

Next GM needs to figure this wing situation out.

I think they did. They didn't have that angle for sure though.

I wonder if they regretted the call after Listorainen made such a show about Foegele's attack and he came back the next shift. Maybe it had some influence on Drai not getting suspended. Right now Florida is acting like Barkov is a question mark for game 3 but I'd be pretty shocked if he wasn't playing. Florida definitely plays the system to the letter

Problem is we shit the bed so hard at the start of the year we couldn't get any one healed up all year. Bleh.

It reminds me of the Bennet superman punch on Marchand. Wait a couple of days and a new video angle is found.
