There was a rumour recently posted on HF Oilers and apparently Parayko would only waive for the Oilers. I think this is over blown. Each to their own and I am sure some players just don't like the media focus they get in Canada. Weather can also factor in altho I wouldn't want to be in some of the southern states during the summer. Also with a salary cap team can only sign so many stars before they have to start filling at their rosters.

no, going off by what Seravalli is saying
Wait. Aren't the general discussions going on around how true what Seravelli is saying and what cities it applies to, and your using Seravelli's statement to support Seravelli's statement?

who was the last big UFA to sign in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver that wasn't Canadian?

A recent survey of NHL player agents reveals that Canadian cities aren’t a hot destination to play in – though Vancouver is somewhat an exception. Ted Chernecki reports.

It's been like this forever. How is this news?
You can count the number of Americans that have played for Oilers in recent past on one hand.
Is Derek friggin Ryan the only one on current roster?
I think players are given NMC more loosely now too

Montreal exploited the system for all that it was worth. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

That plus, if you are a current player, why would you want all the baggage of playing in Canada?

Wasn't like this until free agency.

Off the top of my head, Montreal has signed Cammalleri, Cole, Radulov, Hamrlik, Gionta, Toffoli in the last 10-15 years.

Save Gionta (who was a 2nd liner), these were all first-line players and a top-pairing defensemen.

If you're talking about franchise players like Tavares, how often do these guys hit the market period?

a survey from 7 years ago? lol

the answer is none
Vancouver Canucks was shit 7 years ago, so now it’s even more prominent.

Word of advice to you and I mean this sincerely, my friend, the moment you stop lying to yourself, your life changes

Every year the survey comes out that players don't like these places or teams talk about difficulty acquiring guys and every year people are shocked. I'm not sure how this is even news anymore tbh

I'm talking specifically about non-Canadian players
