if it's a game winner in a shootout, i feel like it should be counted as a goal, as well.

I guess it would be counted as goals against the goalies too....

But of course it must seem unfair for Zucca not to get the 2 game winning shootout-goals in the stats. He has given the Rangers huge points. Especially the point against Thrashers was big.

Next penalty shot goes between the legs....

Watch, see and remember...

Btw; Still scratching my head as to why his 3 ps goals doesn't count as "goals"....

A goal is a goal is a goal....that's how I was raised.....

If they really were "penalty shots" they would count.

They aren't. They're just a gimmick.

Pretty sure that a penalty goal counts as a goal for the player when it comes to overal goal scored here in Norway - but other Norse Men has to weigh in on this....

So a field goal doesn't count as a goal for the kicker in Nfl either then ?

well...field goals aren't exactly goals...i mean...i wouldn't consider it a goal... :help:

Glenn, it's not that freaking difficult. In a penalty shootout, the goals does not count toward the personal stats of the players. However, if we're talking about a penalty shot during the game, it would count toward the stats of the players.

The same goes for other sports too. In soccer would not goals scored in a penalty shootout count as goals scored for the top scorers title either. Only goals scored on a penaltyshot during the active play counts in the statistics.

When we talk about field goals for a touchdown in football is it not something that is added to decide the game one way or another, and therefore counts on the statistics. The extra point attempt are part of the touchdown.

Zuccarello has technically just scored one game winning goal (against the Hurricanes), although he has determined three games by scoring in two penalty shootouts.

How do you would compare so goals to field goals is beyond me. That's not even apples and oranges. More like apples and snowmobiles.

That bring said, I think the separating goal in a so should count in the stats. If you win the so, your team gains another goal. I feel it should be given to the deciding scorer. Also the gw save should be given to the goalie.

As for soccer: pk shootout goals do not count. Not in Norway, nor in any other country I know of where soccer is played. In soccer, if the score is 2-2 after ot ( or et- extra time), it will still be 2-2 after the so as well, a footnote added to the digit belonging to the winner reveals who's won.

Side step: wish all the Norwegians would chill just a little bit. It's great that mza is doing so well and that so many are enjoying his success, but come on, you don't aproach the board of a great original six club with the " we do it like this in Norway, I think that's better" attitude.

Sadly, americans have little to learn from norwegians when it comes to hockey. We're hundreds of miles behind America in the hockey departement.

If you were to give who determined the match a goal, you have to give everyone who scored in penalty shootout a goal as well. To score on a penalty in hockey is very difficult, and you have to give everyone who scored the credit for it. It would not be fair to those who did their job by scoring, but was the first one, if it came two more goals in the penalty shootout after him.

I'm a little unsure about this though. How does the rules work now in relation to shutouts? If a game ends 0-0 and goes to a penalty shootout, will both goalies be credited with a shutout then, or only the one who wins the penalty shootout?

Stats is only stats in the end.

If anything, goals in SO is a stat in itself, on par with assists and goals. In the future people will talk more about like a player that went 40+40 and had 8 SO goals and had 56 pims. Today its not mentioned all that much.

All that matters is that Zucc is getting on the board making a difference offensively. Building up confidence and cementing his position on the team.

4 for 4..

I approve..

Btw;sorry for harping on about the shot out goals guy..

I'm as humble as they come, so I appologise

He got great skill and tied for the top in the league for SO goals, any chance he can get called up for the super rookie skill contest?

Can someone tell me something? Wat did Zuc say in his postgame about Warren 77?

He said that he wanted to party at Warren 77, but they had a game tomorrow so that was not happening.

It was the delivery and the expression on the face of the chump who was interviewing him. I mean the guy starts of the interview by making a short joke but Zuuc stayed gracious. It was obvious he was a bit uncomfortable. Still he managed to make a little joke at the end.

The kid handles himself nicely.
