He did have his full name on for a little while (then with number 48, his other preferred number), can see it here :)

But he decided to drop "Aasen" as it got ridiculously long, hehe

I'm glad he dropped Aasen when he went to the United States. Just Zuccarello sounds much more natural spoken by English speaking commentators, than if he had had the Aasen name too. The phonetic sounds bad in English.

It did not look good with so many letters on the back either.

Keep in mind that he's half Italian. It doesn't take much to set him on fire, and I don't see him hiding behind his bigger teammates when the going gets tough. Don't be surprised if he drops the gloves too, he's done that before ;)

Sometimes it gets a little bit biased though. Most of it's ok, but I had to chuckle/I facepalmed when one of the papers wrote a whole piece about last nights game and Zuccarello's goal, and managed to use one (!) whole sentence about Gaborik. The quite platonic: "Marian Gaborik was the man of the match with four goals and one assist".

That's norway in a banana peel for you. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about Zucca doing good, but every time we get an athlete that "makes it" we lose perspective that he or she is an automatic superstar and that the rest of the world doesn't care about anyone else. Sidney Crosby, who? We have MZA. Lance Armstrong, who? We have Thor Hushovd. Bode Miller, who? We have Aksel Lund Svindal etc. etc. Of course they might be great, but we seem to forget that the world is a bit bigger than our little duck pond.

Hockey is a tiny sport here so that they write about Zucca at all is good. You can`T expect em to use much time writing about a guy that most of there readers have never heard of and do not care about. People that are interested in the NHL or people who become curious will look on info on more specialist websites.

This isn`t a typical Norwegian thing, when writing about a fringe sport most media will focus on the "local hero"
For example i read a article about the tour de ski in a Canadian paper and it only focused on the Canadian athletes.
 
Before Mza racking up the points and getting the attention, about the only nhl coverage in the Norwegian media was when a big fight or something ugly happened in the league - so I'm happy with the change in focus these days...:yo:

Every other newspaper managed to write about the guy most of their readers had never heard of or cared about, so I was just amused by the one who didn't.

I didn't mean to say that emphasizing our local hero was a typical norwegian thing. I may have put it awkwardly but I meant that we quite quickly overestimate our contribution and impact on the world when one of "us" makes it big, considered that we are population-wise the size of Brooklyn and Queens combined.

That being said, I am happy for every single pixel or page of coverage Zuccarello gets. :)

A new personal best for Zucca in ice time against Carolina. Total ice time 19:39 - Only Stepan and Wolski played longer, but only a few seconds.

Btw; anyone know why Tortorella was mad at Zuccarello after the first Carolina goal?? The way I see it, he was the only forward that actually skated home and tried to prevent the goal, and he almost succeeded. My opinion is that Lundqvist should have stopped the first shot anyway, but I guess also "The king" is human after all....

The Step - Wolski - MZA line has been the most exciting line to watch lately, i miss the Ani - Dubi - Calli line more :cry:
 
There are a lot of people that thinks Zucca will be sent down to Connecticut when the injured guys returns.....Even though he has been one of the teams best players since he got called up.

It would be a shame to send one of the teams best players down to AHL.......

Sincerely doubt that.

To be honest, Zuccs looks like the most dynamic player on the ice night in and night out for the last several games.

There is nothing for him to accomplish in Hartford other than working on his play away from the puck (which has been pretty decent to my eyes) and confidence, which he surely is gaining right now.

If he is sent down I'll crap my pants.
