Not sure who are debating with but Laine is the most important piece on our power play and it’s not really that close. Wheeler is magic as the QB on the half wall....Scief is great in the slot......but it all gets built around the shot and the threat of the shot.

Which shot? Scheifele can bury them. Buff can hammer them. Then there is the back door. Laine is the best finisher no question, but you don't have the same 4 options without a player like Wheeler moving the box.

The good news, the Rangers did us a solid and beat Nashville 4-3 clean in regulation tonight. Jets still 4 pts up on the Preds. Today's debacle isn't as bad with the Preds losing
Well then the Preds must in the following order:
- Lack drive
- Be poorly coached
- be an embarrassment to Nashville
- Be poorly coached
- have star players who don't care
- be poorly coached
- can't play the trap
- be poorly coached
- have terrible goaltending
- be poorly coached
- have lazy players
- be poorly coached

I didn't see much of the Calgary game, I fell asleep before it. So I can't comment on that performance. Didn't see much to like today. I think he has to move his feet more, as Buff reminded him. It's amazing that no one sees how many loose pucks get away from him, get by him, because he doesn't skate or use his body position. I wonder if people only base hockey off stats now. Yes he scored. But his line's biggest contribution today was dumping the puck in to get off the ice. Little had the best 5 on 5 scoring chance. He's supposed to be a star. Like Mitch Marner. How come he is -8? Little, Connor, Ehlers, Myers, Chiarot? What's the correlation?

If you can't see what Wheeler does for Laine, well damn. It's the same as Ovechkin, with Backstrom on the PP.

I like Laine, but the kid has to improve his overall game. I say that with convinction, I'm not going to be intimidated into kissing a player's ass because he scores goals. You have to score more goals to win. And so I reiterate Laine needs to step up his game, 5 on 5, for us to go far. It's not out of each his reach or talent level either.

Of course Wheeler is setting up Laine and does a good job at that. You made it sound like Wheeler is making Laine on the PP which I rebutted.

Good we almost agree on something. I'll take that as a draw. But seriously though, maybe 10 players in the league make the pass he did to set up Laine.

I fully agree with everything you said. But the last few games Laine has not been the problem, still he’s constantly being singled out. It’s like a record that was left on after his lackadaisical play before the break.

Everyone know Wheeler is great on the PP, I just have a hard time when someone makes it sound like Wheeler is carrying Laine on the PP when that is demonstrably untrue. Don’t see why you have to discredit the impact Laine has on the PP, like what would he be without Wheeler, when he’s always scored insane amounts on the PP without Wheeler.

Holy f*** take off the homer glasses Laine flat out sucks at 5on5, the only ones that don't see it are his fan boys! If it wasn't for that shot he would be playing in Finland in the Loogie league.

Have you watched the last two games at all? He’s definitely not been the problem. He had 5 shots on goal against Calgary. He was a problem before the break. I think Scheifele and Connor have been worse in the last two games. And it’s ok, off games happen. But I think your assessment is quite unfair.

Jets are very lucky that Nashville is in a serious funk right now. Extremely lucky to still be 4 pts up on Central lead.
Maybe if the Jets were 4 points behind the Preds they would have played better the last 2 games. It's like have a big lead going into the third ... you take your foot off the pedal.

I watch the games without, a Laine boner! BFD 5 shots on net, lost board battles constant giveaways, slow as f*** he is useless 5on5.

The difference is that I have nothing against playing Scheifele-Wheeler together, I just find it extremely weird and abnormal they they are always glued to each other, not even in games where the Jets look awful and the blender comes out are they separated. That is very weird to me.

On the other hand I am pretty sure you won't be satisfied until Laine is on that line even if the Jets won the Stanley Cup with him on another line. ;)

That's incorrect though.

I would be happy if they won it with him in 2nd, but it's not going to happen. Both lines are bad in this configuration. There are better options.

After the Wild scored their second goal I decided to turn it off and take my son to go see Aquaman. That 2 hours of eye gouging CG vomit was still better than watching the Jets play today.

The pendulum has swung too far in the other direction when it comes to opinions about Laine's play... there have always been people who blame everyone but Laine when he's not playing well but now some people are refusing to give him credit for anything and commenting as if he is Chris Thorburn. And to suggest that Wheeler deserves the most credit for the success of the PP? LOL! Come-on guys...

And what is this shit about homer glasses? I’ve been extremely critical about Laine in the past when his lackadaisical play has warranted it, but he’s not been bad at all after the break and won’t back down on that.

Laine’s game has a lot of room for growth. I dont think anyone would argue that.
And I do agree that if he didn’t have that world beater shot of his, he wouldn’t be anywhere near an NHL roster yet. He just has far too many holes in his game. Coaches wouldn’t put up with those holes.
The stick waving, circling and standing still wouldn’t be tolerated.
But it’s tolerated because he can bury the puck like almost nobody else.

Looking forward to playing games in 2nd half on the road in rinks we never play good in. Pitts wash Boston Philly colimbus Tampa. If we hang on for 3rd it will be a miracle.

It must be tough to hate the team you love so much?
If all the Central teams were charging then the loss would hurt more.
Don't like the result and could complain about many small things.
But have to remind myself pro athletes can't be great all the time.
The other team wants to win too.
Things certainly could have gone better.
Things come in waves... we were scoring more than one could expect and now we are scoring way less than we should.
The floodgates will open again... even if it's not until 2019.
