At some point during this window they’ll need to give up a piece or two that hurts. Not just pieces that they’re internally “OK” with giving up because they have inside info on those prospects’ weaknesses.

That probably happens in the offseason.

I expect at serious run at Ohtani.

id argue the chapman and berrios trade proved they are more then willing to do that
Pretty much all those pieces they were OK with giving up internally.

Credit to them for being able to consistently sell high on prospects but I think eventually they’ll need to consider selling a piece that actually hurts.

Whats with our media guys saying Pop is a powerarm? He doesn’t even come close to a K per inning.
He throws in the high 90's, with sink. The strikeouts aren't there yet, but the belief is if he can start using the slider more, which is a pitch the organization really likes in general, the k's will be there.

The team that makes the sexiest moves are not the ones that win sometimes. Our team in 2015, looked great up until the ALCS where they flamed out in 6 to the eventual champion. IF the players are disappointed, that's fine, but that's not an excuse to play like shit the rest of the way. Play like you're supposed and this is still a great team.
Exactly. Wsh added daniel hudson and he was huge in their world series win. Then just look at the braves last year

They've already done that though. They traded SWR and Martin for Berrios (two prospects that HFboards was in bed with), and Chapman for Smith and Hogland (two guys that were also considered as guys a lot of ppl here wanted to see develop on Jays)

You can give up prospects that hurt, but the return has to be good.

We aren't giving up Bo, Manoah, Moreno, Tiedemann+ for Soto.

Also, we dont have to do this. A few smart fa could fill the gaps.

I guess they could run a 6-man rotation for a bit and whoever screws up among Stripling, Kikuchi and White will be kicked from the rotation in a few weeks

I think White goes to the pen initially.

I'd like him as the 5th but I just feel like Kikuchi will be given a chance to build off his last start.

All four of those players had red flags that made them expendable trade bait. In Martin’s and Smith’s cases they were obvious.

His 2 seam average 96.5. That's actually the exact same as Romano's 4 seam. Depends on if power arm = velocity or Ks to you.

Zach Britton was the best reliever for years in baseball, and most of his success was on the back of 7.5 K/9 with a bowling ball 2 seam.

Perhaps, but it would’ve been interesting to see what a package of Orelvis + Frasso + Biggio could’ve gotten, for example.

People gotta realize that getting Soto wasn't a need but rather a luxury for the Jays. They would've had to give up all their top prospects and potentially one of Bo/Teo/Lourdes to Washington to get it done.

I don't think there were red flags with Martin really. He was seen as a cant-miss top 3 pick. The only question was which position he'd play in the pros. The other 3, I agree. Between age, injury etc with the others.

Frasso isn't very highly thought of, Orelvis has some warts and Biggio would be selling low.

I think that we would be shocked at how little that would have gotten.
