No complaints from me about the trade deadline.
Cool, that all makes sense to me.Oh I don't disagree with your statement at all. In fact you/morgs/et all have probably the best takes.
This was much more so in response to guys who are just shitting on people feeling "whelmed" lol. Like the white knighting is kinda whack.
All i'm saying is, this wasn't the perfect deadline, and I think you'd agree to say this was an average to above average ish TDL - which does leave room for criticism for a team that has world series aspirations imo.
yooo PM me your roster lol. I'm addicted to it.
The prices seem to be high and the Jays don’t have the upper level prospects that other teams do. Wouldn’t trade Ricky for a bp arm or a rental. We got bullpen help and some outfield help.
Satisfied.
Thanks! He throws in the high 90's, with sink. The strikeouts aren't there yet, but the belief is if he can start using the slider more, which is a pitch the organization really likes in general, the k's will be there.
Jays mash right handed pitching. I don't think there were a ton of left handed bats out there that would make a difference (other than Soto)Jays were cautious at the deadline for sure BUT saying that one thing that really surprised me was we didn’t get a lefty bat? That’s surprising.
Not with the most of the usual crowd here. Dissenting opinion is frowned upon, pedanticallylmfao at the guys coming in like oh toronto sports fans are going to be toronto sports fans and why everyone is upset and if its for the "usual" reasons as if they're some mature, level-headed more knowledgeable fans. The white knighting is ridiculous.
People are allowed to be dissatisfied with the deadline. Like this isn't some home run TDL that we just witnessed from this FO. It was very questionable and we'll see if it pans out. But they didn't get an impact starter, or a bat and while they got bullpen help, they've had all year to address that and they just did with decent but nothing special arms. So ofc people are going to be underwhelmed. Tf?
White is better than Kikuchi by a mile so they definitely upgraded their rotation (gotta remember, the market was thin this year). They don't need a bat, they already have one of the best offences in the league (Merrifield kicks Zimmer out so that should be a good thing). Bass and Pop are definitely solid arms with Bass being exactly what the Jays needed as he has the lowest ERA among any pen arm that got dealt (these two give the Jays what they've been missing all year which is bullpen depth)lmfao at the guys coming in like oh toronto sports fans are going to be toronto sports fans and why everyone is upset and if its for the "usual" reasons as if they're some mature, level-headed more knowledgeable fans. The Jays lead the league in average vs RHP. For such a right handed heavy lineup, you wouldn't expect that. A lefty bat really wasn't a huge need.Jays were cautious at the deadline for sure BUT saying that one thing that really surprised me was we didn’t get a lefty bat? That’s surprising.
Yeah this is my biggest concern. The Yankees got Montas, the Mariners got Castillo, Astros got Mancini and Vasquez, and Twins got a bunch of dudes as well. Only Tampa did worse this deadline than the Jays among all the teams in a playoff position right now.Jays weren't able to do nearly enough while other teams got a lot stronger. The prices were too high though so I don't blame the Jays for not wanting to match what was being given. A lot of teams gave away top end young talent with years of team financial control for what seems like an all or nothing attempt this year. Too high in my book. Kind of disappointed though. I don't think the Jays did enough to compete with the teams they're likely going to need to go through. We'll see.
What's the buyout on that? We will be needing that money by then so it's a guarantee we aren't picking that upHe's signed for next season at 6.75m and there's an 18m mutual option for 2024.
