Hopefully they don't sulk and instead take it as confidence in the group as is. This is what they are going with now -- no more speculation hanging over their heads. So just focus on baseball.

But I would get their frustration in seeing many of the other contenders loading up and the team walking away with depth pieces.
I think it’s human nature for them to be disappointed. Let’s hope it’s only short term.

I'm disappointed only in that I think this team can get hot and win a world series, and think their bullpen is still not quite good enough, so would have been ecstatic if we could have done something like Bass AND Soto/Jimenez. I think Tigers were asking for a ton for their relievers obviously.

Not sexy or big name adds but addressed some notable names and didn’t give up much of the prospect pool.

Solid B for me.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.

Really like the Miami trade - two high-velocity bullpen arms with control. People would be more dazzled by an Iglesias trade because SAVES! but this really shores up the bullpen.

The White trade is a bit more of a long-term trade. Probable guy for the rotation next year? Long man to finish out this year? Don't like giving up Frasso but again it's a solid arm with lots of control. And more SP depth for this year if there's an injury or Kikuchi implodes.

Merrifield is a bit of a weird one. I don't hate it and the cost was pretty small - although I was starting to really like Castillo. I think of him as a 2B but he obviously won't be playing there really at all and I don't have a great read on him as an OF.

But they added two high quality relievers and another pitcher that could push Kikuchi to the pen where his stuff would play up. I don't get this narrative.
Blair's an idiot. There's yer narrative. On top of that, he has, by far, the most annoying voice I've ever heard. Whoever offered him an on-air job in the first place must have been deaf. I mean, I get he has knowledge of the game (although this comment makes me wonder) but I swear every time I hear that nasal drone of his, I wish he'd just shut up and go write something so I don't have to here it anymore.

Lol, I'd take the Jays going deep over watching meaningless regular season hockey in October.
As long as they’re in the afternoon…i can’t remember the last WS or even division championship game I’ve watched. ‘93 for sure, but after that? Oddly enough I’ve watch over 100 live spring training games.

Sulking has never helped anyone. Each guy in that clubhouse can control their own performance. Just play well, and remember in spring training this was one of the world series favourites. So play like it and everything should be fine.

Making significant improvements to the roster today didn’t have to mean blowing up the team.
the improvements a lot of the fanbase wanted yes it would have meant internal movements to the starting 9.

come on people are losing there shit about frasso a unranked prospect. sure one with a helluva electric arm and some gawdly stats people weren't going to be happy no matter how this shaped up

Their bullpen is way better than it was before today. That's the one part of their moves you can't really argue with.

Would much rather have less flashy names like Bass and Pop over a trainwreck waiting to happen in Soto especially considering the latter would probably cost way too much.

I like these moves for the Jays. They shored up their bullpen, added Merrifield which means Springer is likely due for an IL stint.

I’m glad they didn’t sell the farm.

Was really hoping for an arm or two from the Tigers though. I’m sure the asking price was sky high.

I think they needed another good starter and a decent bat.

I would’ve been OK with giving up Orelvis, Biggio, Pearson and more.

Mitch White looks like the current version of Syndergaard + more team control. If it wasn't for the fact that Syndergaard has a connection the Jays I doubt there would be as much of a demand for him among Jays fans.
