My wild prediction is that Bryan Reynolds is a Blue Jay in the next few days. I just have a feeling that a big Jays/Pirates trade is going to happen.

Cherington will be more attached/interested in Jays prospects than maybe other GM's since he was part of the organization when they drafted/signed most of them.

Yep. I’d be shocked if we didn’t get Happ or any other outfielder. Atkins better start making moves soon. I’m getting worried. BP needs upgrades, we need outfield help, a lefty bat. Another back of the rotation starter. Let’s go Ross
I’m somewhat expecting in the off season he goes for tommy John surgery.

Sign me up for Reynolds and Bednar and then go all in on upgrading the team and get Bass from Miami so we add 2 good RP and that left handed bat.

I noticed Groshans was playing RF today, thought that was a bit strange and maybe a showcase for another team? Had a look, appears he has done that 3 times in AAA this year, not too unusual then, but a bit odd for someone who should be a long term 3B and play some SS.

I think it'll be more of a clean up surgery.

It doesn't look like it's ligaments, more like bone chips or bone spurs

Nightengale: MLB trade deadline's top buyers, sellers and finalists for a Juan Soto deal - USA Today

- The Blue Jays are spending $230 million on improvements to the Rogers Centre, which likely takes them out of the running to host an All-Star Game until at least 2027. The Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and perhaps Atlanta are among the contenders to host the 2024-2025 All-Star Games. The 2023 All-Star Game is in Seattle, and the only other one scheduled is the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia.

I think it’s not a bad idea. Even before Springer’s injury they were looking for CFers and checked in on Renoylds last year and another switch hitter in Grossman.

Jays were willing to trade Kirk in a deal for Ramirez but now that Kirk established himself, Moreno might have to be the guy.

Can get all your shopping done with the Pirates in Reynolds, Bednar and Quintana.

Moreno, Groshans, Pearson, Kloffenstein and Lopez covers the value. All prospects Cherington and/or Sanders brought in or helped developed.

If Springer has bone spurs, I’d let him get the operation now and he will be out 2-3 months and hopefully back for the playoffs. Reynolds replaces his production.

I would be pretty gassed up if we walk away from the deadline with Happ, and a couple pitchers. I know everyone is all set on a franchise changing blockbuster trade but I think this is more likely.
Happ and Robertson from the Cubs plus one of Detroit's good relievers. I'm good with that.

Would be a good add to give Springer some time off in center while not losing much with the bat.

Let's split the difference, I want Lopez and Bass from Miami or Reynolds and Bednar from Pittsburgh I'll give you Happ if I can have Bass or(And?) Bednar
Bass alone would probably be pretty easy to acquire. Bednar would cost a ton, though (as relievers go, at least).

As long as they don't pick up someone like a Quintana, who hasn't been good in like 5 seasons and then proclaim they're a better team i'll be happy.

Some of the moves i'd be okay with

Realistic:

Bednar/Reynolds package: Probably would cost a ton as alluded to a couple times in this thread, but it would essentially be a two birds with one stone type move. Gives you a high leverage reliver and a super good bat to give you more variance in the lineup

Robertson/Happ: Essentially the slightly lesser version of the above, largely because you're not getting the team control with Happ that you would with Reynolds.

Rodon/Joc: On the table now that the Giants are apparently facing reality. Great left handed bat with the bonus of having a decent postseason resume and Rodon is one of the best pitchers in the majors this season. You get Rodon for next season as well, negating the need to go shopping for pitching in the winter.

Pablo Lopez: Great younger arm that would fit great.

Unrealistic:

Tigers pitchers/relievers (Soto, Fullmer, Skubal): Would be great options but it sounds like the Tigers will only budge if someone overpays. Hence why i have it here.

That other Soto: I don't think he ends up moving before tuesday but that's a big boy trade i'd be more than willing to make. Gut the farm, and then immediately offer Soto 15/500 like he wants.

No chance in hell:

Shohei: The only way i see him moving is if the Padres actually do acquire Soto and the Dodgers get assmad and begin to feel like they need to make a countermove. Otherwise i stand by what i said before; he doesn't go anywhere before he's a FA.

I love Brian Reynolds so that's the move i hope they make but i understand while somewhat realistic, the price might be too high.

I feel like we may be runners up here, but you never know. We seem to enjoy trading with the A's and presumably we would have discussed a lot of names with them last time and we know who they like from our prospect list.

I dont know how to post tweets but Morosi tweeted the Jays Yankees and Cardinals are after Montas

Was beat to it anyway lol

You guys realize if we get 2/3 good players its going to empty the top of the farm system. Montas alone will probably empty the cupboard.

I'm ok moving anyone right now except Tiedemann. I'd prefer not to trade Moreno, but Tiedemann is going to be special, fills a greater need, and could be up contributing as soon as next spring.

Pearson + Moreno for Reynolds and Bednar
Zulueta + Groshans for Rodon + Doval

He wouldnt command Moreno. Probably just 1 of Orelvis/Groshans+

Only players that empty the cupboards alone are Soto and Ohtani which probably dont happen
