Ok, I think I have a fix. I'll try to contact whoever made the skin, but until then, if you feel adventurous...
1. Go to Stylish config, go to Manage Styles, find BBA HFBoards, and hit the Edit button.
2. In the resulting edit window, go to line 94. It should say:

color: #f4f4f4;
font-weight: bold;
text-shadow: 0 0 5px rgba(0,0,0,.9);
}
Replace those lines with:
a.username.author, .publicControls a, .discussionListItem .lastPostInfo .username {
color: #f4f4f4;
font-weight: bold;
text-shadow: 0 0 5px rgba(0,0,0,.9);
}
.discussionListItem .title a {
color: #f4f4f4;
text-shadow: 0 0 5px rgba(0,0,0,.9);
}
The problem is that they're forcing a bunch of things to be BOLD, but the title in the main list (discussionListItem) shouldn't be bold, so I just pulled it out with the same settings except for the BOLD font-weight.

I just figured out something a bit simpler...
In step 2, instead of inserting all that code, you can do this instead, and threads with unread messages will be larger:
Go to line 157. I should read "font-size: 11.7pt;"
Change the 11.7pt to something larger like 13.7pt.
This will make unread threads have larger titles.
Alternatively, you can add add a line under it:
color: #44f4f4;
This will make threads with unread messages to be teal!
