Nothing, and the bullpen has been great... But ideally we've got a lefty whose equal to Schultz. Maybe Loup comes back and pitches well in September.. Who knows? No questioning that we could use another lefty though.

who's that lefty?

Can somebody clarify Pompey's status?

There is a guy on with Blair right now insisting that they need to DFA Carerra tonight to make room for Pompey to be playoff eligible.

But I understood that because Pompey was here earlier in the year, that isn't an issue for him.

Blair is saying anybody on the roster on Sept. 1 is eligible for the post season roster.

I've seen like a million Wilner tweets in the past month talking about this. The latest I can remember him tweeting is him saying they changed the rules this year, and anyone in the organization on August 31st is eligible for the postseason.

But I always thought you had to be on the 25 man roster or DL on this date.

If Wilner is right then that means we could call up SRF or Alford if we wanted to(we won't), it makes things a lot easier.

On that topic will we be calling up Pompey tomorrow or will they leave him in Buffalo to play everyday until the end of the year? I'd imagine they'd call up Loup, Tepera, etc, etc tomorrow because they're not prospects, but I think they might still want Pompey playing everyday while they can?

I could be wrong, but my understanding is today... Playoff roster has to be set today. That includes Stroman whose technically on the ML roster but on the DL.

No. The playoff roster has to be set before the playoffs begin.

Any players a team get after today aren't eligible. But I'm not clear about players in the minors that a team has, but aren't on the MLB roster (Pompey).

Gibby said everyone tomorrow but two players who will get called up after the 7th

I think we all know who one of the latter two are, not sure about the second.

It's too bad Travis is injured because he would be great at the top of the lineup.

Travis
Josh
Jose
EE
Tulo
Smoak
Martin
Pillar
Revere

That is one tough lineup.

Yea even though he's a rookie we really miss Travis. Too bad injuries got the best of him. He should have had surgery or whatever after his first stint on DL. Too bad.

I think at this point, the major league team's playoff race trumps all other concerns. Meaning: if they think Pompey being called up ASAP can help the MLB team in some way, they have to do it.

Even if it's scoring from second as a pinch runner in a close game, if they can help. Get them up here.

Blair just clarified it: if a player is in the organization (on the 40-man) at midnight tonight, they are eligible for the playoffs.

If they are on a 40 man roster as of 8/31, I think they are playoff eligible. Price, Andruw Jones, and KRod are three examples of players who got called up in September and played in the playoffs. They werent rookies until the next year though.

That's what I meant, poor choice of words on my part.

Yep, that's just what Blair said.

He was responding to a specific comment. In other words: the Jays don't have to DFA Carrera to call up Pompey tonight.

I'm not sure I understand the wording of this tweet. Why put the otherwise in there? That makes it sound like you don't need to be on the 40 man or the 60 day DL.

I think the otherwise is a reference to possible injuries.

If a Jays player gets injured after today, they could use someone in the system not on the 40-man as a replacement and that player would be eligible for the playoffs.

Here's a scenario: final week of the season, Cecil blows out his arm and they don't have a leftie. They could use their best leftie in the system who isn't on the 40-man out of the bullpen for the playoffs.

the original tweet is protected so I'm not sure what the question is, but unless it's in regards to who can be replaced in the case of a injury I don't see how it's about that, he says "anyone on the 40-man, or otherwise, DL or not is playoff eligible" not playoff eligible to replace an injury.

If it wasn't a reply to a injury replacement question then it's horrible wording imo because he makes it sound like everyone is eligible as long as they're in the organization today an midnight.

cecil sucks & why would they need a leftie when their bullpen is amazing
