Do you not know the meaning of hyperbole? Also, its relevant if we're comparing two players, and when brurhle has had deadarm issues as early as late in the previous season.

Where did you use the word "hyperbole" in the post I quoted?

You didn't.

If you're posting something sarcastic use this: :sarcasm:

If not, expect people to call you on it or disagree.

So it's August 31 and just Addison Reed has moved. AA must be channeling his inner Dikembe Mutombo and blocking the hell out of the Yankees. You'd think they'd do something after the Jays surprised them by eating up their division lead in basically two weeks.

not really. what prospects do they have to give up? severihno is actually playing now

Pretty much teams don't really use a 3 man rotation anymore and might not use one until the WS.

You probably wouldn't see Price start more than 6 games in the playoffs. The max he would pitch in a divisional series is 2 starts, only 1 start if he pitches in the wildcard play-in game.

If he starts 2 divisional series games, he's only going to start 2 alcs games. If he only started 1 alcs game he could start 3 WS games but at the end it would only be 6 starts. He could start 2 in each series which would be 6 as well.

If you're willing to put him on 3 days rest he could go 2 ALDS, 2 ALCS, and 3 WS

You could squeeze 7 out of him. 3 times 3 days rest, and 1 time 5 days rest(due to the schedule)

He can if he suspects the player they want to acquire is on waivers. He can put in a claim to "block" the trade.

Yankees are ahead of us in the waiver order(right now they are). If the Yanks really wanted a guy, they claim him before we get a chance.

They would just claim him. The Yankees just claimed David Robertson (who was pulled back) so they could prevent the Jays from making a potential deal.

Is the playoff schedule set?

Wilner was talking about this while I drove home from the game yesterday. He basic point was: the starting rotation in the playoffs isn't anything like the regular season because there are a lot of days off. He compared it to about a week ago when the Jays had three days off in seven days (Aug. 17-24).

I keep forgetting today is the trade deadline (although, not really, they can still acquire players - just anybody they got couldn't be used in the playoffs).

I wonder if AA is going hard for another leftie reliever? Seems like the only thing the team is "missing." :)

since when did the jays get another leftie reliever? they dont need one considering how right hand dominant there bullpen is and how good it has been

 Contradictory statement is contradictory.

We could use a LH reliever in place of Bo. It's not a pressing need, but in an ideal world, a veteran lefty would be a good add.

I made a mistake,Price would have to go on 3 days rest 4 times.

WC Game
October 6th

ALDS
October 8th (Price)
October 9th
October 11th
October 12th (Price) 3 days rest
October 14th

ALCS
October 16th (Price) 3 days rest
October 17th
October 19th
October 20th
October 21st (Price)
October 23rd
October 24th

World Series
October 27th (Price) 5 days rest
October 28th
October 30th
October 31st (Price) 3 days rest
November 1st
November 3rd
November 4th (Price) 3 days rest

There are a few other ways to get him 7 starts, including 1, 4, 7 games in the ALCS instead which they could do if they were behind in the series.

I don't think you can do any fewer than 4 times on 3 days rest if you give him 7 starts.

whats with the 3 day rest? why not 4 pitchers and 4 day rest? is he planning to pitch like 4 innings and then the long releivers will be used (in this case hutchison 3 innings and dickey imo pitch like 2)

Nothing, and the bullpen has been great... But ideally we've got a lefty whose equal to Schultz. Maybe Loup comes back and pitches well in September.. Who knows? No questioning that we could use another lefty though.

fwiw the Jays can still block a guy if the Yankees were considering making a trade for him if he cleared but didn't want to risk taking on his entire salary

Of course in that case you run the risk of the team just releasing him to the Jays and then LOL payroll so the Jays would never put the block in at all

Can somebody clarify Pompey's status?

There is a guy on with Blair right now insisting that they need to DFA Carerra tonight to make room for Pompey to be playoff eligible.

But I understood that because Pompey was here earlier in the year, that isn't an issue for him.

Blair is saying anybody on the roster on Sept. 1 is eligible for the post season roster.

I was at all three over the weekend. One of the most memorable weekends of my life!

I was there with a buddy, we had a stadium view room for Friday/Saturday (plus cheap tickets for batting practice). On Sunday we went to the game before heading home. It's 6-0 in the 4th inning yesterday and he turns to me and says: "Today isn't as good as yesterday."

I'm like: "Dude, how good was yesterday that you're disappointed in four homeruns and a six-run lead?"

Lucky you. That would have been unreal to be in the stands for that smack down of the Tigers. This is only my 3rd game this year, I just had to make it out to see price. Funny thing is I went to around 15 last year when they were ******** and now that they're unreal I just can't find the time to go down there or find tickets haha

I could be wrong, but my understanding is today... Playoff roster has to be set today. That includes Stroman whose technically on the ML roster but on the DL. It's before Sept 1st. I could be wrong though.

I've seen two very conflicting reports on this

First one is anyone on the 40 man incl. DL as of September 1st is eligible (good for Pompey)
Second one is anyone on the 25 man + DL as of September 1st is eligible (bad for Pompey)

Still not really sure

Definitely picked the right summer to move downtown lol. And assuming the Ballpark Pass is dead after this year I'm pretty much going every night to get all the value I can.
