Let's win the lottery this year, get Draisaitl in 25/26 and call it a day. :naughty:
Throw in Crosby for his swansong while we're at it.
Yes, I've been drinking, lol, but don't tell me that wouldn't be fun!

Ole' ole ole ole ole. ole ole.....
I give up on winning lottery. Only lottery I hope to win now is 6/49.

Rantanen is UFA in '25. Be sweet to sign him to play with Slaf. We have 20 million coming off books that summer. Petry, Dvorak, Armia, Savard, Allen for sure if not earlier. Plus we likely buy out Gallagher that summer.

What’s the target for our golden boy now? 45 looks like a piece of cake, 55 would be amazing (25 in the last 27 games).

I think 50-55 is reasonable. I don’t see him cooling down at this point.

He has a performance bonus of 3,5 million dollars in his contract. Maybe we should not cheer so hard for him hitting it. As far as I know performance bonuses count towards your cap in the next season. Not sure at what point total it is going to trigger

Cap hit is calculated by dividing the total salary plus signing bonuses of a contract by the contract's length. Performance bonuses are not included in a player's cap hit, but will affect a team's cap and a player's cap hit if the performance bonuses are achieved.

We should cheer as f*** for him to it hit.

I have no problem paying superstars 10M+ a year.

I have problem paying plugs like Gallagher and Anderson to rich contract.

Not saying he wouldn’t have earned it but for cap implications for 24/25 season might be better for the team if he doesn’t

You realize we’re allocating almost 19M$ next year for Gallagher, Anderson, Armia and Allen?

For those who watch the NFL, the best comp that comes to mind when I see Slaf is Josh Allen.

The guy had bad stats in College at Wyoming, but you look at that size, speed and canon arm and just think « omg if he can figure out just a few things, this guy will be a superstar ».

Slaf won’t hit any of his bonuses this year. They are divided into A and B level bonuses, with A level bonuses accounting for $1 mill and B for $2.5 mill

The A level bonuses are each worth $250k and he can hit a maximum of 4, they are:

20 goals
35 assists
60 points
Top four on the team in ice time
Too four on the team in plus minus
all star team
All rookie team

Tbh ta like that. B Level are even worst

I never understood the desire to go to the main board and gloat about things, that's what Leaf fans do and it does nothing more than put fans in a position to be laughed at. We have a good thing on our hands in Slaf but there will be growing pains and possibly a few more years before he reaches his full potential, lets just enjoy the journey, good and bad and let's do it here
Yes the likeliest scenario. Think Vinnie as an example , who I believe had a breakout year after a couple of seasons of meh numbers with Tampa , and then his numbers catered. People here would have stroked out. Ups and downs.

Slaf has been a blast this year. From early in the year when it was much like last year. Then seeing him doing things here and there which showed improvement, though no points. Then watching watching more confident guy being much more engaged though no points. But the good play was a joy to watch. And then points started coming sporadically and now boom. Fun.

So he only has a chance at two:
20 goals and all-star team. No bonuses for all-bust team.

The addition of Slaf on the first line makes me want to watch the games again.

It's been a while my friends.
I completely agree. Actually thought that to myself last night. We have a lot of good coming in the next 2-3 years

Yeah this has been my rough comparable for a while. Even the rookie year struggles were fairly similar in that you could see the flashes and the tools even though the results were not there and there were a lot of lost puppy moments with technical skill deficiencies.

I don't think Slafkovsky has the same ceiling but the similarities between the two have been pretty uncanny.
