Prospect Info: The Second Overall Pick Thread: Part V (Kakko/Hughes Talk)

For the sake of both franchises, especially NJ with the social media the Devils have been putting out there - I hope its Jack 1 Kaapo 2

Then again it may not really affect the Rangers at all minus those who were bashing Hughes (if any did that). Itd be mainly NJ taking the brunt of it all

There's a part of me that really wants Devils to draft Kakko solely because of the unbridled chaos that would follow. So many NJ and NYR fans would be named after their rivals greatest prospect, several finnish posters would have to try and make peace with NJ fans after behaving like rabid dogs since the draft lottery etc.

Why is Shero comparing Kakko (almost) to Jagr...??

Kakko is just a big, strong kid, has really good hockey sense, great around the net. He has got a will with the puck. He almost reminds of lately Jagr almost, honestly he just that good. He has great hands.

This got me worried a bit..

Why? If the Devils take Kakko, we get Hughes.

There is nothing to be worried about ffs.

No chance.

Shero aside from being a blithering idiot has balls the size of almonds. But theres just too much of a connection between the Devils org, Hughes' family and the NTDP for them to go with anyone but Hughes (well, that and the fact that hes really good and has been ranked #1 forever.)

Idk a GM’s job is to build the best team possible, not to please their friends. If they do believe Kakko is better than Hughes I think they take him regardless of connections which I think are overstated

I respect Stan for all his work throughout the course of his career covering hockey. He loves the game. But he has no sources. He hasnt in quite some time. And as he stated, this is just his gut feeling, there is no information to back it up which is typical of his reporting in general when it comes to news. For years he has gotten things wrong

I love Kakko to death, but you must be mad if you think I'm going to be upset over drafting Hughes. lol
