I didn't mean that in any kind of sarcastic way. I was on the side that thought it was a good move because Lisin had a much higher offensive upside than Korpikoski even if he was a much bigger risk.

But mostly it was that all sides were bringing up great points consistently and it never devolved into a circular discussion nor a biting one.

I'll be f***ing honest, I'm scared shitless that the Debbies pick KK ... it would crush me.

He's BPA and they know it too. All this PR bs will end up in the biggest troll act I fear.

Sure we would get Hughes ... but I'm set on KK being EXACTLY what we need.

f***ing Devils already have an undersized, speed-skill centerman in Hischer.
Another incentive to go with Kakko.

Actually Hughes is exactly what we need too, maybe even moreso than KK because he's a center. I'll be super happy with KK (obviously) but that means our Center depth still isn't solved. That means we gotta really hope Chytil ends up being a) a top 6er and b) a center in the NHL. Or we could tank hard and get one of them juicy centers in 2020 .

Or we could trying to trade up to get a center in this draft, as has been speculated for two months.

Speculated here, but I don't see anyone trading a top ~12 pick, its not like 2017 where there were like 6 good prospects in the 1st. I feel like we'd have to give up more than just Kreider

Whilst I agree that we also still need centers, KK is the bigger need because of his size and sheer dominance physically. He brings much more to the table than Hughes, who's overrated to me at this point. I'm not even gonna bother with the "he'll be better in 4 years"-argumentation, it has no leg to stand on.

Prospect-wise: McJesus >> Matthews >> Hughes

I don't think any of our centers under contract as of now - except for Zibs - is a top 6 centerman. I hope, as do you, that Chytil can take that step and be that guy, he's probably the only one in the system with that upside. Selling Barron and Howden a little short maybe.

IMO 2020 is where it's at. Get more fwd depth there. Byfield being the center I wish for.

They are both great! We win either way and an elite franchise center is no consolation prize dude!

Im set on Kakko too, but I am NOT going to set myself up for a disappointment. No way. We won the lotto at 2. I will welcome Jack with open arms if the Devils make that mistake.

Think about it - If the balls bounced another way we could easily be discussing who will be there when we select at #10

They aren't taking KK. They are going with the consensus #1 who plays a complete game and at a position that is very hard to find elite players. He's already put up crazy numbers and broken all kinds of records and isn't even developed yet. We should be so lucky that they leave Hughes on the table. Don't get me wrong, KK is a stud and will be huge for us. But let's not pretend Hughes wouldn't set us up down the middle for a long time.

Or we trade Kreider for a top pick in tomorrow's draft and select that center.
