I will be happy with anything so long as it isn't some gross underperformance or mishandling. I want him to take his time getting comfy here. He is going to be the guy and a face of this team and city. Of course everyone wants to see him get 70+ points out of the gate. My expectation as a rookie with not so much if any at all experience in an NA style game will be 50-60, which is just fine for a rookie, really. We have players who can help him succeed and I do have confidence in the staff from behind the bench to the front office that they will do what they need to to make Kakko maximize himself.

I haven't been following the draft too much, but I do know Kakko's strength is in the goal department. With that said, how good is Kakko's playmaking? Is he a pure scorer or a more all-around forward?

From what I've heard around here and elsewhere he's kinda looked at as a 40-40 type guy.

Which is good, IMO. We aren't talking 40 goal Rick Nash who only puts up 25 assists. The extra assist numbers really can propel Kakko into 80-90-100 point potential.

As opposed to Hughes who is more of a 30-60 projection.... real elite assist numbers.

I voted 50-59 in this poll, cause I'm so enthused about his NHL-readiness, but the real answer is 40-49 or even a non poll option of 30-39.

Connor McDavid had 48 points his rookie year. Even if Kakko dipped into only the high-30s, like Svetchnikov this year, I don't know that it would be cause for real alarm. I would be disappointed because I've been told he's "instant impact" but I wouldn't necessarily be downgrading his long term prognosis as a 80-90 point player.

Mcdavid played 45 games his rookie year due to injury, he had 48 points. That's ppg. Let's leave mcdavid out of this discussion for a bit.

Because he got hurt...he played 45 games.

I voted 80+ but on the real, I would be disappointed if he (Kakko) got fewer than 50 points. He's being billed as a franchise player and NHL-ready.

It’s really going to depend on his usage. The same things were said about Svechnikov and he was stuck on the 3rd/4th line for most of the season and ended up getting 30 something points, but he was much better than a 30-40 point player

can we please ban the phrase 'nhl ready' talking about a draft pick?

his point total is completely tied to what the lines are...we only have 1 really center. if he plays with mika then he'll probably do pretty well. if he's not than its not really fair to expect much

I wouldn't worry too much about how many points he puts up this year. worry about the points he puts up 3-4 years from now...

Of course, i'm not going to call him a bust if he only scores 30~ points this season. But I want a young exciting player for once, a star rookie, every team has/had one except us. I'm feeling greedy.

He's not only scoring 30 points... I just can't see that. Chytil and Howden were both close to 30 and they're nowhere near the player Kakko is now

Looking at other recent prospects of a similar caliber who played in their D+1 season, I'd expect 50-60-ish points from Double K. Obviously things like ice time, teammates and what not plays a role. He should step in immediately and get top6 time and PP time so i think 50-60 is realistic.

Matthews:69
Laine: 64
Eichel: 56
Hischier: 52
