I think it's totally fine he skipped the combine. Other than the selfish fact of seeing the numbers he would put up compared to the other players.

Hes been all over the place this past year, playing a ton of games, tournaments and in different countries. You should be happy as a Rangers fan he is not attending for 2 reasons (correct me if im wrong):

1. In the event he goes and completely dominates the charts, that will be additional first overall pick fuel. We don't want that.

2. He would've had to fly from Finland to Buffalo, Buffalo to Finland, Finland to Vancouver and then Vancouver to NY for the Rangers prospect camp which begins the week after the draft.

Let the kid enjoy his gold medals at home with his family, team and country and take some time to prepare himself for the upcoming draft and everything that will go along with it. He will be in the spotlight from day 1.

exactly.

him not being there because of whatever the reason doesnt change the fact that in the end, he really doesn't need to go at all.

as someone else posted before, even with the travel and celebration, if he were a top 10 bubble guy trying to improve his position and coming off the worlds, he would be there.

he's the consensus #2 pick (hes really #1) so not going makes no difference at all.

People actually care that Kakko skipped the combine? Come on, he has nothing to prove and probably just regrouping after the Worlds.

You'd be surprised where some are going with him missing the combine.

If he went to Buffalo we'd be in a situation where he wouldn't have had a rest for a year and full NHL would be about to start.

These are the summers he can develop the most, would be a shame to waste them.
He can answer the same question a few days prior to draft.

While I agree that he has nothing left to prove, I can’t help but feel that fans and teams look at the combine very differently. Fans want to see the measurements and fitness testing results and I feel like teams want to get to know these kids through interviews and get into their medical records. That said, I’m 100% sure the Rangers (and whatever other team) will be able to have a good chat with Kakko before the draft

They flew Kravstov out to NY before the draft last year.

Kakko is still partying

Finland population: 5.521 million
NYC population 8.175 million

I read that nearly half the people in Finland watched the final game.

Enjoy it Kakko.

i've seen many people here claim that but no idea where it allegedly came from
It's part speculation from Cam Robinson. He said that he heard from a trustworthy source that around 6 teams or so had Kakko #1 back in early April. He presumes that with Kakko's recent play, it may be closer to half the teams that would take him #1. My guess is that most of the playoff teams right now would take Kakko #1 if they had the pick and that most of the lottery teams would take Hughes #1.
