If teams are picking based on who will be and impact player next season, I think Kakko would be the right choice. Not just because of how he is performing, but because of Hughes being smaller and needing couple of seasons (or just one who knows) to adjust.

But teams are not drafting just based on that, and this is why you have a bunch of scouts analyzing each feature of the player and making the overall assumption of his current play and ceiling. I still think Hughes will go #1 (I hope so 'cause I'd really like to see Kakko as a Ranger), and I don't think the Devils would make a mistake doing so.

The Devils just might be though. The next year is very important for them. They have a short window to prove Hall they're for realsises or else he's gone.

As a physician I can tell you that this will not have an affect on him during his playing days. His Type 1 diabetes will have affects on him later in life.
Yeah, it's not like he's the first or the only active player dealing with it. Domi just had a breakout season and he's a type 1 diabetic, as well. If it was a concern, it would have been brought up by scouts over a year ago, since this isn't some newfound or private information.

on the ice for both late period Finn goals, and got a shift in the OT, but no points, kid is on the decline ...

Increased ice time and 6 shots on goal is good, though. Can't score every game.
