haha I think before the draft lottery if you asked most people here if they'd rather have Hughes or Kakko, they'd have said Hughes. Now that we've had time to think "we're probably gonna get Kakko" and fall in love with him, we're all nervous that we might actually get Hughes instead

No way the Devils pass on Hughes. It's kind of like Zion in the NBA, even if you think there's a better play, there would be too much backlash from casual fans (which is a majority of NJ Devils as a small market lets be honest) to pass up on the next American superstar center.

Considering Hughes's WJC performance (alongside the numerous connections he has to NJD + Shero essentially saying multiple times he's gonna draft the guy) he'd have to shit the bed this tournament and Kakko absolutely tear it up for it to be a real question.

Just watched the game in full. Kaapo Kakko was by far the best player on the ice. You’d never know he was 18. He’s enormous. Built like a friggen machine already. Looks like Ivan Drago on skates.

Really impressed by Adam Fox tonight. He’s playing his game and looks improved in the D zone. Would have liked him to shoot on that Hughes set up but otherwise he’s been very good. He’s very cerebral. He’s outplayed Quinn tonight. It would be a lot of fun to see deangelo and fox tag teaming on the right side for 40 plus mins a night.
