Boomer is the GOAT. No other NY radio personalities discuss hockey at all.
Very true. He's the only one who tries to discuss hockey. Gave up on NY radio cause of sell outs like Joe Benigno (he used to talk hockey all the time with his overnight show). Now its all sirius and TSN 690 montreal for me.

Awesome thanks for posting. I don't bother much listening to local radio (all they do is talk baseball) so would have missed it.

I watch him in the mornings some times because it's NY-centered as opposed to mostly national sports news. That said, there isn't a lot of "meat" in this clip. It's mostly about the luck for NY sports teams is finally changing for the better. Which is true. My Jets landed potentially a franchise QB. We got a top 2 draft pick. The Knicks have a chance at Zion and Durant. Hell, even the bad luck Mets got Pete Alonso.

Did anyone watch Kakko’s game today? I saw two decent gifs

His puck protection is unreal. We’re going to be a tough team to knock off the puck. Lias’ puck control is already unreal and Chytil has untapped potential in that area, once he gets stronger he should be able to show it off more.

Kakko played LW today BTW

Don't think I've seen a draft eligible kid with as much compete level, drive and tenacity as Kakko. Just look at that 2nd clip where he fights (and beats) a grown up in a duel wrestle along the boards. It's unbelievable for any kid to be able to do that alone, but to follow up by making a run to the net for a prime scoring chance after shaking some guys off? Just nuts. Lets not even forget this is only what we're seeing today and if Kakko is this strong right now, one can only imagine how much stronger he could possibly be in lets say five years. Anyway, I got a feeling he's going to be throwing and knocking guys from left to right when all is said and done. Yet then again, you can always beat'em first and score right after. The Devils will regret so hard when they pass up on the guy, but that's just another thing coming and they get plenty of time to prepare mentally.

Listen, no one loves me some Kakko more than I, but the Devils aren't going to regret selecting Hughes. He is also a tremendous talent.

And that sequence from 1:10-1:25 in the video is insane.

If the Devils take Kakko, the Rangers get Hughes plus the huge chip which would appear on his shoulder. Hughes would become the Devils biggest nightmare.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind either. Not going to be upset if Kakko goes #1 because just a few days ago no one could’ve realistically predicted us getting to #2. Either way we’ve got a fantastic player

I'll admit I don't know draft picks like most--but if the Rangers do pick in those spots and those players anyone have some insight into those players.

Thinking Newhook over McMichael ?

f*** me if NYR chose McMichael over C. Caufield or Brink. I'm not the biggest Newhook fan, but I'd take him over McMichael!!

Also, if York falls that low, I'd hope NYR would trade up!!

Actually Kakko's boards battle level here and in other videos I've seen reminds me of both Matthew and Brady Tkachuk. Those two are relentless down low and are always taking the puck to the net. As a reminder--late season game vs. Calgary--Matthew was in all of Calgary's goals in a 5-1 Flames win and then brother Brady was the first star against us a couple weeks later.

Of course they're not going to regret it tomorrow or day after, but eventually some will regret passing Kakko. I just don't believe Hughes is on par with Kakko as a prospect/player nor that he ever willl, and that's not even really all that close. It'll take him year(s) to do what Kakko is already doing - toying with the grown ups. If Hughes had Kakko's size (but not his strength & shot), maybe then, but just maybe. This doesn't mean Hughes isn't a great prospect and at the end of the day that's just my opinion to the matter anyway, and I suppose only time will tell. How people prefer to view them is up to each.

Lol, exactly. Our “consolation” prize is either Jack Hughes, arguably the greatest playmaker the USDP has ever developed, or Kakko, the kid who just set the Liiga U18 goal record. It sucks that one of them will be in Newark, but either one of them does things for this franchise that no prospect has done in 50 years.

Bruh if we chose a generic ass player like McMichael over Caufield or Brink I’d lose my shit
