Yea the problem is we already have the depth. We need the quality so bad. It’s been so long since we’ve had a franchise player to build around. Henrik yes, but he’s a goalie.

Mr. Amazing, all I am saying is that Gorton is better at 2 than he would be at one. Its clear that in this draft there is #! and #1A, then there is everyone else. He can't mess the pick up because his pick is going to be whats left, be it Kakko, or Hughes. If he picked first he would have been forever judged by his choice between the two. If the Devils take Hughes, Shero's choice will evaluated on how Huges measured up to Kakko.

500+ goals, and a 2nd liner at age 37? I'll take it.

I always thought it was odd that Hossa only really started getting serious Selke consideration once he was in his mid 30's.

Unless a forward is clearly BPA, I prefer a D as our second pick (from the Jets) as well as our third pick if we get it from Tampa. I'd use at least 1, maybe 2 second rounders on defensemen too. We have 3 top-10 picks used on forwards in 2017-2019, plus Chytil way, way exceeded expectations. Other than the outside shot of K'Andre becoming a first pair defenseman, we have nobody who can realistically be on the first pair of a Cup winner.

Forwards have flashy stats, but defensemen are the more important position. They play more minutes, they hold the puck more, they are closer to their own net so their mistakes get more exposed, they QB the PP, they transport the puck more often. Forwards sell tickets, but having great defensemen is crucial to winning the Cup.

The only interview I saw of Kakko was after he won the Gold Medal. He had a translator, so I'm guessing he learned some English since then.


He actually looks a lot like Buchnevich facially. They even have the same mannerisms.

I think his mental game and personality are better than Laine’s but that’s really hard to say from a distance. Laine is a great talent but he’s a bit of a head case IMO.

What’s so attractive about Kakko is his on ice maturity level and how he has the skills to back it up against men already.

It’s already unbearable with morons complaining that we didn’t get #1 overall. Some people will just find any reason to complain.
