Dude it won't happen, I don't think Adams will pull something like that off. Ehlers or Necas look more realistic, but I'm not sure since Adams likes his child wingers.Well, there is a difference in Krebs and Cirelli.

Yes, let's wait a couple more years until all our prospects develop and become the new Cirellis and Ehlers, I wonder what Lindy and some fans (including me) think about this. This is f***ed guys. :eek3:

I know.. that's why I said it's a pipe dream.

He has work to do. But he doesn't need to make a panic move and make bad decisions

He won't have a job in a year if he doesn't make at least a few good moves in that direction, even if he has to overpay somewhere (every GM in league does this), including one who wins cups. Of course, overdo it within reasonable limits, no more. It is panicky to trade Savoie or Kulich for 4C.

Is Cirelli overpaid? Yeah, but it's not egregious. If he was correctly paid, there would be ZERO reason for Tampa to move him at all.

You say he's not a top 6 talent -- but he's been used in the top 6 on 2 Cup-winning teams and a 3rd that went to the Finals. I dunno, that seems good enough for me. He's a guy that is a picture-perfect middle 6 center. Hell, it's possible that he's the guy that kicks Cozens to the wing like many here think that Cozens ultimately is. He is an ace PKer.

He plays the game the way we need more Sabres to play the game. And if it takes a mild overpay in assets to do so.......jeez, we can take the hit. We've got way too many assets as it is

What most people are proposing isn’t exactly a “mild” overpay. Lots of folks ready to give up the O’Reilly package (or more, in some cases) for a guy who is decidedly worse at a similar style of game.

I stg if HFSabres had negotiated the Byram trade, we’d probably have lost at least 1 recent 1st round prospect on top of Mittelstadt.

I would think Cernak would have to be included in order to get the 11th OA ..

Cirelli + Cernak

11th OA + Joker + Rosen

I think Rosen is probably too good of a prospect to add to this deal but maybe we have to add some extra juice in order to get them to trade within division.
I'd make that trade. Not a super fan of giving up 11 OA. I'm sold on Catton. But not sold enough that I wouldn't make that trade.

Here's the question: why would Tampa make that move?

They've got 10 forwards and 5 defenseman under contract for next season, and both goalies. They've got $5M in cap space for 6 players. Why trade two of the younger players on the roster? Adding McDonagh back seems to signal that Tampa wants to compete, not rebuild.

Tampa has Point (28), Hagel (25), Cirelli (28), Sergachev (25), and Cernak (26) which is a really good set of players to build around. I don't know why Tampa would move any of them.

Brisebois could move Jeannot and Sheary to free up cap space. Wouldn't he eat it on both of those trades before doing serious roster re-shaping?
Ostlund might be the one player outside of Savoie that I wouldn't trade. We don't have anyone else like him in our system and he could be our Cirelli except with more size and jam in a couple of years.

Cirelli is much bigger than Ostlund, in both height and weight. Ostlund has a small frame and will be limited because of it.

They probably wouldn't.. but that is the type of trade that would need to occur in order to get our 11th OA with Cirelli

I think Kulich for Cirelli sets up being trolled by Kulich for years. Same with Savoie.

But it's tempting to just get on with it already.
Beane wasn’t afraid to be trolled by Diggs…you have to be fearless as a GM. Adams has been guided by fear so far, he needs to learn from Beane and grow some.

Upgrading the top 6 would be a huge move.. it would have to be for an impact player and it would be about revamping the team.. im not talking about guys like Ehlers or Necas ect ect .. it's basically a pipe dream

If Thompson or Cozens gets hurt for significant time even with Cirelli we are screwed.
This is why I would be inquiring about Brock Nelson. Isles need youth. We do not in the short run.

Yeah it's true but I don't think this team has any right living in fear of what might happen anymore. You need to do what you think makes you the best team today. I also don't know how big the gap is between Kulich and Rosén anymore.

Not sure Sabres are interested in Lindholm. Heard he turned down 9m from Calgary and not sure he would take less from Buffalo but probably would from a team like Boston.

First, Chain I appreciate your center list and as I go over it, it makes me nervous. To me, if we traded for over half of them, it would be what I consider a “retirement” trade for the player. “Great, I just got traded to Buffalo. They never win, guess the bar isn’t set too high. I’ll slack training now.” There really are only a couple names, that’ll come in at the right age and attitude.

Second, JT Compher got a 5 x $5 mil contract last year. So are we saying Cirelli is overpaid….by what? A couple hundred thousand, or $500k?!?!

I think it’s very arguable that trading for Cirelli before free agency makes Buffalo a way better destination. Ruff plus Cirelli is like instant credibility

It's big. Kulich played Center which took away from his game. It was great for his development in his overall game and will help him down the road but it's not where he belongs if you're looking for him to be an impact.

Doubt it would ever happen as long as Lou is in charge
