Mintyukov could hang in there. If Terry doesn't pull his head out of his ass and continues to have plays die on his stick over and over again, it could be tough for Leo.I think by the end of the year becomes Bedard v. Carlsson. Bedard takes it.

I doubt that Carlsson will even be a finalist given how the ducks are going to have him sit out games.I think by the end of the year becomes Bedard v. Carlsson. Bedard takes it.
Beyond the two scoring plays, can you describe some of the other aspects of his game from today that you found impressive? I missed a little bit and personally found his first period pretty underwhelming. Must have turned it around a bit in the second half.Ok...I'm on board with Bedard, now. I wasn't convinced his game translated to the NHL, when he was drafted, but seeing him play a handful of games, he has made some big adjustments and made me a believer.
Honestly, it was his 2nd goal today that made me more of a believer. I had issues with how pronounced and elongated his flex was, when he would snap off wristers. I believed that the amount of time it took him to get his shot off would easily be countered by defensemen simply having better positioning and using their stick to simply get in the way of where he wanted to go. But he has made some adjustments to where he takes his shots from and is being a lot more patient than other top goal scorers who have come out of junior.Beyond the two scoring plays, can you describe some of the other aspects of his game from today that you found impressive? Don't get me wrong, he still has a lot to learn in terms of consistency and defense. But being able to score on a team that has very few offensive weapons and still being able to put up almost 10 goals, this early in the season, is a pretty incredible feat.
If Voronkov keeps his pace (all but guaranteed he won't) he could easily finish in the top 5. It's a wild daydream, but Columbus sorely needs a couple of guys to breakout seemingly out of nowhere.I think Mintyukov is right up there with Bedard so far. Cooley third. Leo isn't ready to play a full schedule yet so that will limit his chances. I'll say in Columbus Fantilli and Voronkov both could take off, so far they're playing limited minutes in a hyper defensive system, and that could change.
Knies for the Calder,
Matthews for the Hart,
Marner for the Selke,
Holl for the Vezina,
Rielley for the Norris.
Reeves for the Lady Bing

I don't think he needs a crystal ball for that oneI noticed that you didn't nominate anyone from Toronto for the Conn Smythe trophy. Is your crystal ball telling you that a member of some other team is going to be the most valuable player during the playoffs? Telling
Still not a Calder guy though. But very pleased with him so far. The way he hunts down picks and uses his size is impressive. Not sure, but hell of a pickup to be getting top-6 production from a late 2nd round pick 2 years after the draft.
A lot of teams would wish for that from even an early-to-mid-1st rounder.
He would be a deserving winner if the season ended today.Mintyukov could hang in there.
Forgot Dostal for the Ducks. Also this year has some of the best team rookie classes we've seen in a while:
Anaheim:
Pavel Mintyukov - 10 points 16 games a defender
Leo Carlsson - 6 goals, 8 points in 11 games
Jackson Lacombe - Establishing himself as a solid regular defender.
B-O Groulx- Getting a role in the bottom 6
Luneau got opportunities, Zellweger/Regenda might get some looks
Chicago
Connor Bedard- arguably already a top forward in the league.
Kevin Korchinski - Establishing himself as top 4 guy
Wyatt Kaiser - Has become an NHL regular
Guttman/Phillips - Getting looks
Columbus
Adam Fantilli - 9 points 17 games finding his stride as a top 6 guy
Dmitry Voronkov - 8 points 11 games. He's looked good
David Jiricek - Looks like he's established his self as a mainstay on CBJ's D
Fix Wolansky/Svozil - Could get looks
Calgary is having a sneaky good class, as is Minnesota.
