What a nice human you are.

Bedard has contributed to 6 of total 7 Chicago goals since coming back -- and has two goals disallowed. Dude's their whole offense.

Leads all rookies in goals and all rookie forwards in assists. First in shots on goal, too, despite having played 10+ fewer games compared to most top rookies. I don't know what his conditioning was like leading up to the injury but as I understand the winter months are usually pretty grueling for young players, the injury rest might prove pretty good for him for the rest of the season -- just a shame that there's nothing to play for though.

Yeah, only on this board does being a better player count more towards a best rookie award than having better teammates...?

And again, yeah. Faber is a damn good rookie defenseman. Any team would be thrilled to have a young gun like him.

Nobody would take him over Bedard, be that short- or long-term.

And, again, nobody's denying that the Wild are better than the Hawks. That's not remotely a mic drop, it's a "no duh." And everybody would also take a Cup with an opposing player winning the Conn Smythe over losing the Cup but one of your guys winning a Conn Smythe, but that's not really applicable in a Conn Smythe discussion any more so than your analogy has in a Calder discussion.

Faber has certainly cooled down but he hasn't seen a lot of PP time. Still averaging a ridiculous amount of ice time and is one of the reasons why Minnesota is back into wild card contention.

Furthermore, while the points aren't showing up I've seen him get involved offensively and generate goals. Just he isn't getting the assists.

@WhiskeyYerTheDevils ’s Bedard alarm must have broken.
I think some folks read more into his missives than was there. He was suggesting Bedard is not a great defensive player yet. At 18 on a bad team at his size and with his skill set is that so controversial? He acknowledged Bedard's great talent and did not suggest Bedard is some sort of finished product. A number of Faber supporters said similar things at one time or another. It's hard to see Faber beating out Bedard for the Calder but to suggest Faber's game is more mature does not sound so outlandish.

It's not what he said, it's how often he said it. Literally go into any Bedard thread on this board and you will see him saying the same thing over and over. Its bordering on an obsession. The fact that he is not even a Minnesota fan, at least as it relates to this thread, makes it even more comical.

We all have our biases. Go into any thread about seafood and I'll be pounding the table that scallops while being underrated are difficult to prepare at home.

Ofcourse Faber's game is more mature - he's 3 years older.

Most posters have been rational on here, I've seen many Hawk fans giving credit to Faber, and vis versa. But the 4 or 5 posters that refuse(d) to acknowledge what Bedard has had to overcome have made many other fans have to chime in.

It's been a great race, and that's all you can ask. I'm glad a darkhorse stepped up and is giving Bedard a run.
