Not really Bure won with 65 points to Lidstroms 60 and Bure only played in 65 games that year
Well that's what Calder voters do historically right?
Look back just 2 years ago....

Sure do you think Kubalik got robbed he was 3rd in points quite a different situation.Look back just 2 years ago....
50 points really shouldn't be the bar for Faber winning it, considering his importance to MIN is far beyond that (1D minutes, shutdown minutes. etc.), but I agree that if the voters see a rookie defenseman with 50 points, it will increase his chances dramatically vs. him finishing with like 48 or 49.It's Obvious Bedard is the best of all the rookie class , but should not get rewarded for being injured , if Faber keeps it up and ends with 50 points as a rookie dman you wold have to give it to him unless Bedard tears it up when he gets back
well he is on pace for 50 with the majority of his points coming in the last 20 games, he probably will hit it if not more imo.50 points really shouldn't be the bar for Faber winning it, considering his importance to MIN is far beyond that (1D minutes, shutdown minutes. etc.), but I agree that if the voters see a rookie defenseman with 50 points, it will increase his chances dramatically vs. him finishing with like 48 or 49.
It it obvious though? Of all the rookies, if all were healthy, you'd Obviously take Bedard in a 7-game series to win the cup? I am not saying I wouldn't select Bedard, but the minutes/matchups Faber has played while also putting up points would make it not so obvious, imo. It's Obvious Bedard is the best of all the rookie class , but should not get rewarded for being injured , if Faber keeps it up and ends with 50 points as a rookie dman you wold have to give it to him unless Bedard tears it up when he gets back

50 seemed to be the magic number for the more recent defensemen who have won it.50 points really shouldn't be the bar for Faber winning it, considering his importance to MIN is far beyond that (1D minutes, shutdown minutes. etc.), but I agree that if the voters see a rookie defenseman with 50 points, it will increase his chances dramatically vs. him finishing with like 48 or 49.
If Bedard was not injured yes he was near a point per game on probably the worst team in the league and was outscoring his next nearest opponent at the time of his injury by 11 points leading his team in scoring and still is, Faber has been great but plays with elite players as well if Bedard was not injured he would still be running away with itIt it obvious though? Yeah. That's not my point though. I'm saying his deservedness doesn't change whether he gets 49 or 50. But in the eyes of the voters (who are mostly dumb), it will make a big difference.well he is on pace for 50 with the majority of his points coming in the last 20 games, he probably will hit it if not more imo.
Exactly.50 seemed to be the magic number for the more recent defensemen who have won it.
Canadians under 6'?Gretzky, Crosby and McDavid all had something in common and it seems Bedard will join that club.
Second goal, sure, he was late getting back to the net.Another "assist" thanks to opportunity and two more goals against where he was the key factor in the giving up the scoring chance. I wonder why his defense is never talked about anymore . . .
Bure was electric. He was something the league hadn’t seen since prime Richard. Lidstrom was far more subtle in how he played. Not really Bure won with 65 points to Lidstroms 60 and Bure only played in 65 games that year

I think you are only looking at points and not giving a whole lot of weight to the fact a rookie is playing like a #1 defenseman and doing quite well in his metrics going against other team's top players night in night out and hasn't slowed down even with an increase in TOI. A lot of the "elite" players have been injured throughout the year, especially his D partners. He has done most of this with Jake Middleton. If Bedard was not injured yes he was near a point per game on probably the worst team in the league and was outscoring his next nearest opponent at the time of his injury by 11 points leading his team in scoring and still is, Faber has been great but plays with elite players as well if Bedard was not injured he would still be running away with it

I'm from Vancouver so I remember how exciting Bure was.Bure was electric. He was something the league hadn’t seen since prime Richard. Lidstrom was far more subtle in how he played.
Imagine Bure coming into today’s nhl without the holding and hooking. He’d likely score 80 goals. Just don’t see stopping him without taking a penalty. MI remember Ray Ferraro talking about the first time he played against Bure. He said he was sitting on the bench and Bure flew past. He leaned over to his teammate and said, “what the **** was that?”
Yes, Lidstrom was a great player. But rookie Bure was a “rocket”.
Closest I’ve seen live to Bure is macdavid. Just incredibly exciting with puck on stick and attacking at top speed. Crazy fast compared to the other guys. Don’t know if McDavid is as fearless as Bure was though, and that’s a good thing for us fans. Definitely don’t want see McDavid go through the knee issues.
You can’t just say bite would put up 80 goals in today’s NHL what a crazy statement. That’s like saying McDavid would put up 300 points in his timeBure was electric. He was something the league hadn’t seen since prime Richard. Lidstrom was far more subtle in how he played.

Imo the greatest players would be great in any era.You can’t just say bite would put up 80 goals in today’s NHL what a crazy statement. That’s like saying McDavid would put up 300 points in his time
Ya but nobody has scored like that since 99 if McDavid or Matthew’s can’t score 80 in this gen it’s safe to say nobody else wouldImo the greatest players would be great in any era.
