Unless he hits a wall in the last half of the season (which is possible considering the number of minutes he is logging), Faber is the current front runner for the Calder. What he is doing is more impressive than any other rookie (including Bedard before his injury).
He's currently 10th among ALL NHL defenseman (not just rookies) in TOI (24:55), only 5 fewer seconds than Makar and one minute less per game than the leader Drew Doughty, and logs more ice time than players like Josi, Hedman, McAvoy and Q. Hughes among others.. He's also in the top 18 in scoring among ALL NHL defensemen, within just 3 points of McAvoy (who Faber styles his game after).
Bedard is an impressive rookie, no doubt. But what Faber is doing in a more difficult position for rookies to succeed in, has been much more impressive, IMO.
