The Race for the Calder Trophy

Bedard has been by far the most impressive rookie, was not the highest on him heading into the season but watching him play is something else. If he had competent linemates he would go for 90+ in a full season

The one thing that has actually worked in Bedards favor since he got hurt, is it really highlights how he is THE Blackhawks entire offense. Team is barely over 1 goal per game since he got hurt. It will really depend on how much time he misses though, Faber is making a strong case unless he hits a wall fatigue wise.

Yes, and outside of Kaprizov, you can make the argument that Faber has been the MVP of the team you claim has "pretty good players". In other words, he hasnt been riding anyone's coattails either.

You can state your case and I can state my case and we can both be right within the context of our argument.

I'll just ask you this - if Bedard finishes with the rookie scoring lead after missing 8 weeks of the season - will you think Faber should still win the Calder?

Sure he could. Just two years ago Seider won the Calder even though Zegras and Bunting had higher point totals. I do think that for Faber to win, he will need to finish around the 50 pt mark (like Seider did).

Not saying that Bedard wont tin it, but Faber is going to make it a close race.

I think this highlights what's hard for a lot of people to understand- Faber has tremendous value on the defensive side of the puck, as he's a defenseman, so simply comparing their points totals is....lazy? Silly? "Creatively inclined"?

This is going to become a "but but if Bedard didn't get his face broken " argument if he doesn't win.....

Are there some obscure stats somewhere that says Bedard is just as good if not better then Connor McDavid?

If Faber. A defensmen who never touched the PP in college, finishes with 50? Which is his current pace. Yes. Absolutely.

Faber has pretty much become PPG since Addison was traded, and Spurgeon is out.

He's currently on pace for 50. He's closer to PPG in the last month or two since he took over PP1 duties. He might finish with 55 or 60.

I still think it's Bedard's to lose.

looking at his splits he does well against all 4 divisions, Faber really beats up on the East but is very underwhelming against the Central and Pacific divisions.

Bedard has missed 12 games and still has a 8 point scoring lead on the Black Hawks.

Bedard also still leads all rookies in goals and points.

Completely irrelevant if you are comparing forwards to defensemen.

Looking at points exclusively...yawn

Faber assist. 15 points in last 14 games
Another "assist" thanks to opportunity and two more goals against where he was the key factor in the giving up the scoring chance. I wonder why his defense is never talked about anymore . . .

Man, I would have bet my life that Bedard wins Calder. But this pace that Faber is on....holy crap he is having a phenomenal rookie season.
There's a reason Bedard is way ahead in the betting market. You can still bet most of your life on Bedard winning it.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Guy puts a space in between his dots, troll bot behavior

How the Hawks were doing with Bedard and how are they doing without him?

ppg avg - maybe if played every game - yawn..

actually... more wins/points without what with... but he did score, produce most
was/is the best player, but now Hawks play more as a team
Yeah, that’s not true.

They have played 15 games since he has been hurt. They have gotten 7 points over that time (0.47 points per game)

Prior to him going down, they had 24 points in 37 games (0.65 points per game).

A lot of people act as if Berdard will come back and be magically 100%. He might have some rust and he might have to play with a cage for the rest of the season. I know multiple players who have said that it takes a while to adjust to the cage/fish bowl.

I think the NHL should split the trophy for DROY and OROY. Its gets very subjective trying to debate the value of different positions.

Bedard lit up the world juniors a year ago in a fish bowl.
